Recommended: My career as a dancer

Dance is my passion and has been since I began training at the age of six. My lifelong goal has always been to fuse my knowledge of the world of dance with the world of medicine. The demands of ballet that come with training and performing at a pre-professional level are quite taxing on the body, and I have suffered several debilitating injuries throughout my dance career. These experiences have sparked my passion for rehabilitation and sports medicine. I am currently intending to double major in Dance and Psychology with a minor in Diversity on a pre-medicine track so that I may be able to one day fulfill my dream, and assist dancers with their injuries and pain management. Additionally, I am very curious about how to reduce pain and injury in environments where resources are restrained. Experiencing healthcare in a resource-limited environment like Zimbabwe would be remarkable. My excitement for health, happiness, and wellness in others is one of the reasons why I am interested in attending this program. My focus of studies may not be specifically on public health, but I am incredibly curious about the field and the positive mark that it leaves on the world. The interdisciplinarity of the Honors Program is what ultimately drew me to apply. I desire a well-rounded education that does not limit my learning, which is why studying something new and exciting on a continent that I have never been to is so appealing. The hands-on aspect of this program is very attractive, being that experience of that kind is unparalleled.
