What is protein and how is it made you ask. Well I will tell you first off i'm going to talk to you about DNA and life. Scientists thought that DNA was made up of four nucleotides, so the DNA was exactly the same(Nowicki, 2015). DNA contains the instructions on how to make all of our protein. Central dogma explains the patterns on how DNA goes to RNA to make protein. Central dogma goes from DNA to making new DNA. From DNA to make new RNA from RNA to make new proteins.
DNA is a double stranded molecule with a long chain of nucleotides, RNA is mostly single stranded and has a shorter chain(Wikibooks,2017). DNA is mostly in a double helix form, RNA has many different forms. DNA is used to transfer information while RNA has many different roles. There is only one single type of DNA while there is …show more content…

Scientists like Oswald Avery,Maclyn Mccarty, and ect. have identified DNA as a genetic material with the Frederick Griffith's experiment. There is also another experiment that identifies DNA as a genetic material it is called the Hershey-Chase experiment. Griffith was trying to find a way to get rid of pneumonia, but instead he found a way to identify the genetic material. Griffith used a couple of strains called R strain and S strain that were related. R strain got its name because when it was growing in a petri dish it was in clumps and rough. S strian got its name because when it was growing in a petri dish it was smooth and had a sugar-based coat(Khanacademy,2017). Griffith used mice as his experiment guinea pigs he put R strain in one mice and it stayed alive then he put the S strain in another mice and it died. Then he heated up the S strain and put it in a mice and it stayed alive then he put R stain and heated S strain in a mice and it died. When Griffith heated the S strain it put a sugar coat on the strain but when he put a unheated and a heated together the mice still died because there was viruses in the R
