Industrial Revolution DBQ The industrial revolution began in England because of their political and economic freedom. They also had access to many natural resources, the population was growing steadily, and they were able to trade with a lot of other colonies because of where the country was located. The power loom, which was invented by Edward Cartwright, was water powered and automatically wove thread into cotton. This was very important during the time because it was much more efficient and because it was water powered, it made for less manual labor being put into it. Another invention during this time period was invented by John Kay, called the flying shuttle. It increased the speed of weaving which helped make the entire process go faster. (Document 6) Along with these changes in the textile industry, there were also many changes in agriculture. These included the horse-drawn seed drill, stockbreeding, and the mechanical reaper.
