Cyberbullying is a potent tool for bullies as discovered in the tragic case of Phoebe
Prince. Prince unfortunately killed herself after becoming a victim of cyberbullying which hap- pens to be one of the most harmful and damaging form of bullying. Social networking is a detri- ment to society because of many dangers circulating social networks.
Some people say students can collaborate and work together on homework and learn from their teachers with social media. "Middle School and High School students are using social media to connect with one another on homework and group projects (O'Keefe)." Being able to ask doctors about whatever question they have for a quick answer is helpful. However the risk of becoming a victim of cyberbullying is very high and the outcomes are harmful. As described in the article "Clinical-The Impact of Social Media on Children, Adolescents, and Families" "[C]an cause profound physiological outcomes including depression, anxiety, severe isolation, and trag- ically suicide (O'Keefe)." An example of suicide is depicted in the sad story of Phoebe Prince. Phoebe Prince was 15 years old from Hadley, Massachusetts. The bullies were other girls who were jealous of her. The author claims the bullies "left ugly messages about her on Facebook (Winter)." On January 14th after being relentlessly harassed Prince hung herself in her closet. This outcome is extremely unfortunate and cyberbullying is very difficult to prevent because cy- berbullying is widely spread through the Internet and nobody will take accountability for it.
