Even before I registered for this course, my anxiety level was increasing by asking myself, will I be able to understand research or is there a chance for me to be successful in this class. Like everything in life is a sacrifice, I did spend a large amount of time preparing for classes and assignments, and also avoid to miss a learning opportunity. Shortly after the first class, my anxiety level started to decrease little by little. The teacher cooperative learning methodologies, groups the students into small groups, discussed about articles make the class enjoyable, which in fact, decreased or eliminated my anxiety. The first meaningful ideas is that nurses utilize evidence- based practice approach because evidence- based practice guide nurses to structure how to make appropriate clinical decision. Implementing a mass media campaigns on smoking is very useful because it will reduce youth initiation of cigarette smoking in the population, which will decrease potential health risks associated to smoking. Implementing a fall risk assessment in health care settings is another meaningful idea because it can be decreasing the number of and severity of fall in health care settings. Critiquing research because it allows nurses as a consumer to evaluate the scientific merit of the study and decide how the results may be useful in practice by providing a detail assessment about the strengths, limitations of an article, and offer suggestions for improvement also helps nurses developed their critical thinking skills. Ethical concerns, is the third useful ideas learned about nursing research. Because nursing research mostly focuses on humans, a major nursing responsibility is to advocate on behalf of client’s rights to provide optimal care based of evidence gained through research The fourth meaningful idea about nursing research is the utilization, the process of transforming research knowledge into practice. It is a useful idea because when nurses are using research to support practice it will result in better client outcomes.
