The story “A Modest Proposal” was written by Irish author and satirist Jonathan Swift in 1729. The Irish writer was born in Dublin, Ireland and was remembered for many of his works with his ability to use the power of the pen. The proposal was written during a time of economic struggle of the impoverished Irish in Britain. People not only wanted but needed a change and Swift anonymously published this story to do exactly that. These mothers, instead of being able to work for their honest livelihood, are forced to employ all their time in strolling to beg sustenance for their helpless infants.” (Swift) This was very ironic due to the fact swift described in detail the rags on the starving innocent children 's backs to being a great way to gain nutrients by eating them. This solution was very unpredictable and nobody saw it
