Arts and freedom are something cannot be separate. All of the arts come from the artist’s free imagination, and the production that those artists create would somehow be the symbol of t freedom. Hart mentioned in her artist’s statement that art is freedom and she uses rooftop to demonstrate that fact. When people want to hide they find building with the rooftop. It protects them from the enemy attack and made the escapers be able to relax. Historically, the rooftop did become a psychological space that the slaves would not be pillage by their masters as they have physical space. From his work, the audience could see his freedom. Free of doing anything and everything that he wants and that’s what art is. Krammer tells the relationship between art and freedom by evaluating Rothko’s artwork and style. Also, another book called, “Inclusive Design Patterns,” by Heydon Pickering contained the discussion of what art is. In this book, Pickering gave more than one definition to art. However, a unique writing in his book is that he metaphors art to view. Everyone in the world has different perspective, which means people see the world differently. Although people were looking the same artwork, they might get the totally opposite meaning. This proves two things; one is that art is free. Not only the creator of the production would have that freedom of making art, but also the audience could have the freedom of understanding the art. Netherlands tells about the importance of thinking from the different point of view and what it would bring to audience and reader. For the creators of the production, if they could understand their target audience more, the better production they can create. Because the production is taking the form that the audiences want them to be, it could grab more attention and become more well-known production. Oppositely, when the audiences could see the art piece from the artist’s perspective they could understand the artwork more and more. In both ways “Narrative Imagination” are very used full and related to freedom.
