Crete is a part of the Mediterranean Sea, located in the southern part of the Aegean Sea. More importantly, it’s the fifth largest island in the Mediterranean Sea. Not only does Crete form a notable amount of contribution to Greece’s economy, but is also rich in its own culture, poetry and music. The primary characteristic of Crete is that it is mountainous and is surrounded by numerous gorges, rivers and lakes. Agriculture and the trade of Dairy products provide for a significant amount to the Greek economy. In recent times, tourism has also gained immense importance, with the number of travelogues increasing. Transport A small universe in itself that is waiting to be explored by the world is what Crete is in short. Only recently has tourism picked up and has started contributing towards the economy of Crete and the country too. Heraklion and Chania both currently provide an excellent arrival point for visitors and tourists, as well as for business professionals. On regular basis, bus rides between Heraklion airport and Eleftherias square are available at 1 Euro per trip and a Taxi ride would take about 15 minutes and 14-15 Euros. For Chania International Airport, buses won’t be the ideal option, since the frequency is not up to the mark. Hiring a cab is the best option. A cab ride into the town wouldn’t take more than 20 minutes and about 14-16 Euros. Sitia Airport has a humongous parking space and vehicles can be parked there free of charge. Best way in and out of the Sitia Airport is via Cab or Car that should not take more than 10-15 minutes of travel time. The airports are also well linked by Ferries via
