The Road To Despair “Drive safely, Gracie,” Mrs. Bennett pleaded with her twenty year old daughter. “I’ll be fine mom,” Gracie assured her, but even as she spoke, she couldn’t help but feel anxious for her first out of state drive on her own. Gracie started the car, put on a brave face for her worried mother and took one last look at her comforting, peaceful, neighborhood. “It’ll be fine,” Gracie told herself, “It’s only two days on the road”. She repeated this phrase to herself over and over again since she didn’t trust herself not to panic. The first hour or so of driving was mediocre. The drive was incredibly dull since there was nothing around her but an expansive wooded area filled with trees. As far as she could tell, there was no civilization anywhere. Gracie tried her best not to think about how alone she was and how easily something could happen to her and no one would know. As the drive went on, the skies went dark and rain started to fall. Although, it didn’t seem like an ordinary spring shower. The …show more content…
Even though the house looked safe and comfortable, Gracie couldn’t shake her uneasy feeling about it. The meager structure was almost too sweet looking compared to its current surroundings. It just didn’t seem to fit in. Either way, Gracie knew she needed to find somewhere to take cover from the deathly strong winds and rain. She sat there a minute or two, trying to decipher whether she should seek safety in the house or not. Not only was it raining, but the air outside was icy cold. It was obvious she couldn’t depend on her car for heat and comfort for the whole duration of the storm, so she made her decision. Gracie pulled her car on the side of the road and cautiously stepped out. There was no time to hesitate with the storm going on, so Gracie automatically darted to the house, doing her best not to get
THE PAST :.. In days gone by, the four species managed to live in perfect harmony. Witches, werewolves and vampires lived in secret, blending in with the humans on a daily basis - and the humans remained completely in the dark about their existence. It was after thousands of years of living this way, whilst everything was completely normal, that a small group of vampires decided that they’d had enough. They spent months devising plans.
One rather beautiful day I head down to the building fields of Uruk with my only son Urnabe. He is 14 and he is turning out to be a skilled mason or at least better than his old man. When we get there I see that Binfem was already waiting for me.
A thick plume of black smoke and ash hung in the air in a heavy haze, almost completely obscuring the lurid red glow of the waning sun. Below, a cloud of grey plaster dust twisted and writhed amid the sea of debris as intermittent eddies of wind gusted by.
I peered around through the rain, desperately searching for some shelter, I was drowning out here. The trouble was, I wasn’t in the best part of town, and in fact it was more than a little dodgy. I know this is my home turf but even I had to be careful. At least I seemed to be the only one out here on such an awful night. The rain was so powerfully loud I couldn’t hear should anyone try and creep up on me. I also couldn’t see very far with the rain so heavy and of course there were no street lights, they’d been broken long ago. The one place I knew I could safely enter was the church, so I dashed.
When they returned to the hideout, Dutch and Gilbert were sitting in the office. “I’m glad you made it through,” said Marcel said to them. “Yeah, yeah, those krauts as suckers for cupcakes,” said Dutch “You gave them cupcakes? ” asked Saban. “What would you suggest I give them, gypsy, a kiss?”
The weather outside was ice cold and unforgiving. The car felt a bit chilly too, even with the heat on. Alex’s eyes began to feel heavy. She started to wonder how much longer she could keep this up. After all, she was really driving away from something, not to it.
In the beginning of the story, a violent rainstorm rages outside. Rain falls hard and lightning strikes on a cold, windy night. By the end of the story, the weather is warmer and the storm has cleared, leaving only puddles in the banks of the streets.
The Story begins on a beach with three young children playing. Violet, 14, inventor; Klaus, 12, amateur researcher; and Sunny, baby, professional biter who has not totally developed speech. When they arrive to the beach it is a cloudy foggy overcast day. Violet is spending her time here skipping rocks, Klaus is studying tide pools and Sunny is just enjoying her time being at the beach with her older siblings. Even though it is not the greatest day in the world, the children are enjoying their time spent here at their favorite place. No other people are here on beach and this gives the children a place to be alone with their imagination. While playing a gentleman is approaching, but with the fog it scares the children because they cannot see who walks beneath the fog. As the figure gets closer they start to figure out who it is. The strange figure that lurked in the fog is Mr. Poe a friend of the family. Mr. Poe comes over to the children playing and explains to the children that their parents have perished in a fire that destroyed their home. Mr. Poe explains to the children that they will have to live with his family temporarily until he can figure out a plan as to where they will go.
The smell of the fire permeated the room, wisps of black charcoal smoke curled and pranced their way through the thick, suffocating air as if excited to escape the venomous chamber. The smoke soon flattened in the heavy air and shrouded the lifeless corpses of the prisoners. Beside the towering heaters and the dead carcass were rows of flimsy benches; strategically mounted inside of the cramped bunker to make it harder to escape. The cold, cement walls were decorated with windows that were boarded shut. There were also markings that had been carved out on the wall, one stroke for each that was spent rotting in the chamber.
Vivian saw as the rain drizzled on the car from the clouds and the wipers slowly wiping it. The clouds roared as the lightning struck in her ears. Vivian felt waves of dispirited thoughts rushing through her mind.she could see the cars driving by while she hoped one of them would stop and get her out of this nightmare. Suddenly, the car came to an immediate stop. Master grabbed
As I have recently begun progressing though my life with the intent to re-create and re-develop myself into a strong, individual woman; I can never forget the day where it all clicked and my will to survive triggered me to finally take control of my life. The events of that day take place as follows: As I lay heavily on my bed like a lump; I was completely withdrawn from all worldly matters and stripped of my ability to feel or care. Although my physical body was densely set and sunk under heavy blankets on that rainy April afternoon, but my mind was reliving the experience of the night before.
When I finally reached my locker, I collapsed onto the floor. I sat on my knees, unlocked the metal door, and all but threw my things into it. Weighted with exhaustion, I pulled out all the supplies I would need for class before slamming the locker door, and rising to my feet. Just as I was about to turn down the hall, I was alerted by the sudden presence of another person standing in my way.
But the moment of escape had arrived. However, each time that the sharp and deadly blade swung over me, it left me in agonizing pain. It kept swinging over me. It was swinging ever so slowly and graceful, yet deadly. All of a sudden, I snapped out of a daze that I was in from looking at the blade and knew that I needed to get out of there.
Rain drops pelted down against the window, and gale howled soon after. She had just awakened from a long...
A flash of lightning briefly illuminated the house. The windows were broken, but the superstructure seemed to be in good condition. I was becoming soaked as I pondered upon my dilemma. Whether to stay under the tree and risk getting hit by lightning or should I go into that old house, not knowing who or what might be in there. The storm instead decided for me.
