Their swords clashed, a ring resonating throughout the courtyard. She gritted her teeth as she slowly began to grow tired. The rain continued to talk from the sky soaking their clothes and weighing them down.
But still they carried on, neither one giving up. It almost seemed like they would carry on like that for hours, that is until Aethelfrith momentarily lost her footing. She staggered a bit, leaving an opening in her defense, that was when Xavier's blade was able to cut her. His blade leaving a burning cut along the side of her left arm.
Feeling the pain course through her, she glared at him and tried her best to stay focused. As the blood slowly began to run down her sleeve her movements became less fluid and her attacks were weaker. …show more content…

Blinded by rage and pain she advanced not willing to lose. As she attacked, Xavier realized that he was not entire confidant on his ability to play her. It was at that moment that she knocked his sword right out of his hand. Breathing heavily, she held the top of her blade a ones at his neck. Her eyes were starring right at him, not faltering. Thunder tumbled through the skies, Aethelfrith seemed not to notice as she stayed focused on him.
If things were to end here, my only regret is not being able to help you.
Neither of them noticed the approaching figure, not until it was too late. As Xavier tore his eyes from hers, she began to turn around. Before she could face the attacker they grabbed hold of her and stabbed their sword into her side. Her eyes grew wide and Xavier held his breath as the face of the attacker came into view, Lucian. He gritted his teeth as he plunged his sword deeper into her side. The sound of thunder masked the clanging of her sword as it fell from her grasp and hit the ground. Slowly Aethelfrith turned to look into the eyes of the man who she had once trusted.
