Writing skill is so essential to be owned by students in order to be successful in the academic domain in this era. The importance of the mastery of writing skill is also growing that is in line with a rise in the global interaction and the opportunity to study abroad in recent years. The increasing popularity of standardized test, e.g. TOEFL and IELTS as a prerequisite for getting into the university is a big reason for the interest to study and master writing skill.

Creative writing is any writing that is not within everyday professional, journalistic, academic and technical forms of writing (Hyland, 2002). Narrative text is an appropriate material for young EFL learners to be studied and to be mastered since the content of narrative text is easy. Narrative is a macro-genre of text connected with a story for the purpose of entertaining the readers in real stories or imaginary form (Knapp and Watkins, 2005). For example, Kusumaningrum (2015) in her study merely used Think Talk Write as a single technique to improve the students’ motivation in writing narrative text. The study applied Huinker and Laughin’s theory about Think Talk Write. However, Baroroh (2016) in her study merged Mind Mapping and peer editing to improve students’ writing skills.
