Creative Writing Draft: The constant and persistent tapping of my thumbs making contact with the glass, became the only sound that I could register, as my mind was slowly falling into the digital world of virtual reality and social media. My thoughts were occupied with the heavy task of figuring out a likeable, socially acceptable caption for my latest Instagram picture. My fingers smoothly and naturally glided across the screen, like it was second nature. My eyebrows were stiffly drawn together, over the slits of my eyes that were zoned in on the device in front of me. We had just come from the beach, walking carelessly on the road. My eyes glanced to my side to see Kacey with sand in her hair and droplets of water slithering down her forehead landing in her eyelashes with a flutter of her eyelids. The sun was beaming down on my back through my damp shirt, getting dryer and dryer by the second. The trees lining the road shaded us, relieving me from the blasting heat every few seconds. The wildlife and greenery around were unfamiliar as my eyes ran over every single leaf and every single flower. The breeze flickering around my face gave no escape from the pounding heat as it seemed even the breeze was hot. The sand that was clinging to my feet was scraped off with each off the contact of skin to pavement. The last thing on my mind back them was a rectangle device that gave me access to the world, as far as I was concerned then, the world was all around me. My mind was focused on the here and now, it was so serene, heaven like. I felt relaxed, my eyes were looking around instead of looking down at a phone. No internet, not even any electricity to pull me out of reality into the digital world.
