The notion that everyone has the potential to be creative doesn’t effectively increase competition and make it harder to be recognized as a professional creative industries practitioner. Even though everyone is in some way creative or imaginative does not mean that they will be successful. This is because of three main reasons. Some people have greater ability at being creative and imaginative than others. Some people don’t have the time or resources necessary to reach their creative potential. And others simply think that creativity is not something that they can make a living from and therefore don’t embrace or develop their imagination.

Creativity is the process in which a person discovers new ideas or concepts, or new associations between existing ideas or concepts. Creativity is driven by the use of either conscious or unconscious thought. A study by NASA discovered that throughout our lives we taught to be non-creative. They gave 1600 five year olds the test used to select innovative engineers and scientist. The results showed the 98% registered genius level creativity. NASA then re-tested the same children at ages 10 and 15. At age 10, 30% received the same score and at 15 years of age, 12%. This same test was given to 280,000 adults, only 2% registered genius level creativity. This seems to be largely linked to traditional education as some the most innovative people in history either did not excel at or did not attend school. A perfect example is Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, whose teachers told him that he was too stupid to learn anything. ...ay, the average person will be preoccupied with work of schooling for approximately nine hours a day, will sleep eight hours, will spend about two hours preparing and eating food, will waste about an hour and a half travelling and another two hours on household and personal activities. This allows for only one and a half hours for leisure a day, which most of us would much rather spend relaxing than tediously practicing our creative skills. And of course weekends are mostly consumed by social activities and more work or education. It takes a person with serious dedication to manage their time effectively to allow for creative expression and development. Nevertheless, no matter how much time or money someone invests in their creativity, they will still need to have enough dedication and perseverance to commit themselves to achieving their dreams of creative success.
