One Nation Under God While many argue that Creationism is full of loopholes and should not be taught in schools because it pushes a religion on students, I find it alarmingly strange that when a Gallup study was conducted that 42% of Americans believe God created humans in their present form 10,000 years ago (Newport para. 1). The term Intellectual Design simply means the theory that matter and the various forms of life were created by a designing intelligence. However, when the term Creationism or Intellectual Design is proposed to be taught in schools, people decline and do not want it involved in the curriculum. Although many people like to point out the flaws of Intellectual Design theory, I also believe that in the end, any theory can and will have loopholes, including the theory of Evolution. However, the majority or schools now only teach one theory and do not introduce an alternate theory. This is basically supporting only one belief and it is not incorporating any others. Creationism is a valuable and recognizable belief that 42% of Americans actually believe in, why should it not be incorporated in school curriculum? As many like to pick apart Creationism and prove that it does not have support to back it up, Einstein being a pantheist, even stated that as he learned more about the universe, the more he believed in a high power of some kind (Grigg para. 25). Therofore someone with such high respect and with great knowledge, eventually even believed in “something.” I believe, the issue of involving Creationism in schools is more of a “No God in Schools” issue, rather than an adjustment to students thinking. School officials, government, and even parents all want God to be completely taken out of schools. All are so focused on not offending non-believers, that they disregard the 42% of people who do
