The Count of Monte Cristo Argumentative Essay The movie “Count of Monte Cristo” has many characters that are important to every conflict in the story, whether it is by betrayal or loyalty. Jacopo stands out for being one of the most loyal characters. Jacopo was a pirate/smuggler who had stolen from his captain. Jacopo had to fight Dantès, the main character, to escape death. Jacopo then became a loyal friend to Dantès and almost never left his side. Jacopo is an important character to the development of the main character, Edmond Dantès, and the idea of loyalty and forgiveness throughout the story. Jacopo did not have very many relationships with characters, but he did have some significant ones. Jacopo was a loyal servant to Edmond after Edmond had saved his life. Edmond had Jacopo by his side at almost all times. Even when they found the treasure Jacopo did not take any treasure and leave. Jacopo was a pirate and stole from his last captain. This fight involved knives and Luigi, Jacopo’s Captain, even said, “Jacopo is the best knife fighter I have ever seen.” This was a discouraging phrase to Dantès; Jacopo got beat by Dantès almost too easily. Jacopo then became Dantès’s loyal servant. This is amazing, that after being bragged on a second ago that you get beat and then become a loyal friend to the person who just beat you. Then after Jacopo and Dantès were alone with the treasure of Sparta he wanted him to forget about revenge. This made it apparent that Jacopo wanted to be a real friend to keep Dantès safe.
