Throughout history, diseases have been a burden on humanity, impacting both qualities of life and life expectancy. Diseases have had a significant influence on our personal and collective lives, our economies, our values, and our daily rituals. The advent of vaccinations made it possible for people to live longer and lead more fulfilling lives. This paper will explore the issue of whether vaccinations are a personal responsibility for the public safety or a personal right to individual freedom. "While prevalent vaccinations have nearly eradicated what were once very common and deadly diseases, the unfortunate irony is that without the threat of such deadly diseases the proportion of the population that is not adequately vaccinated has grown" (Baumgaertner, Carlisle, Justwan., 2018). There could be several reasons for this increase, including, but not limited to are not limited to cultural influences, financial barriers, environmental changes, or other reasons. This paper will also identify these reasons why the increase in the percentage of the population deciding not to be vaccinated.

According to the United States Department of Health and Human Services, there is assistance to cover the cost of vaccinations. For an example, for those who have private health insurance, most private insurance companies are required to cover the cost of the vaccines, which typically results in no direct cost to the individual looking to be immunized. Also, for those individuals who have Medicaid, Medicare, or other government-funded programs, most of these plans also reduce, or even sometimes covers the entire cost of recommended vaccinations to keep the costs lower for the individuals seeking recommended vaccinations (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services,
