The author, Edgar Allan Poe, wrote an American Gothic story titled The Tell-Tale Heart, which took place in an old man’s house in the 19th century. In the story, the main character, the narrator, wanted the old man’s “vulture eye” gone, so he killed the old man. But, the police came so he confessed to his crime. The theme of this story is that guilt is more powerful than your lies, and you can't cover up what you have done. So, the story’s conflict, setting, and character help to prove and lead to the theme.
