Concert Review Of The Play 'The Lion King'

The lion king is a well-known contemporary musical, which shows the life of a young lion named Simba. Linda Winer from Newsday wrote a review about the lion king, “A jaw-dropping magnificent spectacle. The show and the playhouse are enchanting. The unprecedented production is worth every penny. If this is Disney's idea of a theme park, we are delighted to report that the theme is quality.” I have had the experience of watching this musical twice on Broadway in New York City. The first time was many years ago. After watching it for the second time, I believe that the Lion King has lost it quality over the years. The other characters also have a projected voice but not like the lions throughout the play. The gestures made throughout this musical were animal like and very big, since the theater it self was large. The directors for the 1st and 2nd time I saw the Lion King did a good job in picking the characters. Each character allowed me as an audience member to imagine that these humans were actual animals. I am not sure of the ages of these characters but the all fit the role they were portraying. Especially the young Simba’s and Nala. Although this is an African influenced musical, I am glad that the director used actors of all ages and colors, to show diversity. The first time I saw the Lion King, I thought every actor and dancer were in sync. It wasn’t until the most recent time I watched it, I caught a lot of mistakes and they weren’t small mistakes. The actors and dancers did not seem rehearsed enough to put on the show. I think the Lion King has been performed on Broadway for way too long, and the cast, although it has changed, have been accustomed to the songs and dance. They are starting to look sloppy in the way they dancing and they are also, all of them are not singing in the same
