1. What type of technology was used in the concert? Be as descriptive as possible. The lighting was dim in the room except for the stage, on the stage there was a very large table with three different laptops, and a few other switches and buttons I could not identify. There was a very large screen behind the performer with moving images that moved with the different music. There were smoke machines on both sides of the stage and many moving lights that were placed on both sides

I personally place electronic music in the “techno” category which in my book is placed right next to heavy metal music which is a genre that I despise. I did not think that I would enjoy the concert and I honestly just wanted to get the experience over with, before I even stepped foot into the venue. I was shocked that I was actually enjoying myself while I was there, yes there are a few things that I would have changed to make the experience more enjoyable such as creating some sort of story to go along with the music being played, or a theme that I could place the concert under. For this classes purposes I would tell anyone to go to this concert, but I am not sure I would tell my friends or family to go. After being to the venue, and seeing how they have changed the layout I love this place for concerts but for this particular concert I fell as though it needed to be in a bigger space. There were so many people that attended the concert and after a while it was very crowded. The music was okay and there were some great moments but I believe that the concepts and media involved needs to be improved before I can call it an excellent concert. For recommending this concert to the class, I would provide the links to their website because this venue host other great concerts every day of the week, and people might want to attend some of the other concerts that they

    The venue was a small amphitheatre with wood paneled walls and a wooden stage with the piano situated in the middle. The chairs were covered in blue fabric. I would estimate that the venue was about one-third full, and the crowd consisted primarily of college students (although I did see two senior-aged individuals in attendance, as well). It appeared that attending the event was a requirement for a specific class, although I did not ask anyone about this directly. There was a young man sitting outside handing out some sort of attendance slips. Everyone was dressed quite casually, with jeans and tee shirts being the norm among the male population, especially. Before the performance began, the venue was very brightly lit and it was quite noisy. When the performer stepped out onstage, I was very surprised that several of the audience members were whistling and hooting, since I had read that that was improper decorum.     ...ofessionals they didn’t just play music but they took pride in whatever instrument they played which really made it more enjoyable. I took notice in how the band communicated with each other either by hand signal or eye signal and they all paid close attention to Eric’s every move. It is so important to watch whoever is leading; good communication will cut down a lot of unnecessary mistakes. I really enjoyed the songs the texture of the songs was composed very well, even though the songs were written in a 60s and 70s style I could relate to them. My favorite is “Layla” I sometimes sing it all throughout the day, I love the texture and I love the rhythm. Overall the concert was awesome, I would definitely attend Eric Clapton’s concert if he’d come into my town. The concert was well worth listening to and I would definitely invite a friend to join along with me.

    I have been to many different concerts throughout my life but this year I experienced two exceptionally unique ___ that I had never seen before. The first one was a spectacular chamber recital that took place at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra performed by pianist Yefim Bronfman and violist-violinist Pinchas Zukerman. The program included Schubert's Violin Sonatina No. 2 in A Minor, Beethoven's Violin Sonata No. 7 in C Minor, and Brahms’ Viola Sonata No. 1 in F Minor. The second was a performance by the notable quartet “Anonymous 4” presented by the Universality of Chicago at the Rockefeller Memorial Chapel. The program included a series of medieval French motets from the 13th Century French polyphony, taken from the Montpellier Codex. The two performances were extremely different in nature and but at the same time very similar in what they were trying to achieve.
