Words have been a tool throughout all of humanity, whether it was to provoke, calm, inspire, or even hurt others. Martin Luther King Jr., Chavez, and even Robert F. Kennedy, all use their words to inspire others to make a change, and to create peace in the world. Many famous others use their words to inspire others. He served as the United States junior senator from New York from January 1965 until his assassination in June 1968. Kennedy delivered a speech of inspiration, and in this speech he had said, “Not the end of lawlessness. Not the end of integrity. Not the end of violence…” (Kennedy) Kennedy was showing that the events going on, were acts of lawlessness, integrity, and violence, but he inspired that city not to riot. He inspired that city to remain calm in the hard times of segregation, and unequal civil rights. In Kennedy’s speech, he had also talked about people being mad about the rights and circumstances that blacks were accustomed to, “ …. Filled with bitterness and hatred and a need for revenge….¨ (Kennedy) Kennedy was telling the people he was giving his speech to, what everyone else was acting like, but more certainly, what they shouldn’t be acting like. Chavez dedicated his life to improving the treatment, pay and working conditions for farm workers. He knew all too well the hardships farm workers faced. Chavez spoke to the board and people of his town, about Martin Luther King, and about the death and punishment for the children and workers in his town. The grape fields were filled with pesticides and killing young children and babies. What Chavez said that inspired everyone to make the change was, “ You are never strong enough to where you don’t need help” (Chavez) Chavez inspired everyone to help make the change because he was not strong enough, and did not have the voice to make the change in their community. Another thing Chavez said that inspired people was, “Preservation of one's own culture does not require contempt or disrespect for other cultures.” (Chavez) Cesar Chavez said this because of the disrespect for his culture and everyone around his culture.
