College is one of the most important decisions in anyone's life and there are just too many factors to consider while trying to find a college that best fits you. For this compare and contrast essay I have decided to break each of my six colleges down into six criteria These criteria will help me decide which college is the best fitfor me. The colleges I have chosen are as follows: The University of South Carolina (USC), The University of Clemson, The University of Alabama, The University of Baylor, The University of Duke, and The University of Southern California (USCa). In doing this project it showed me how much more a private college costs rather than a public college which is why I have decided that I would much rather go to a public college rather than a private college. All of the colleges that are private schools cost $10,000 dollars more than all of the public colleges The public colleges include: The University of Alabama, The University of South Carolina, and The University of Clemson. The private colleges include The University of Southern California, The University of Duke, and The University of Baylor. While researching my six colleges I noticed that if I want to go to a college which I am going to be able to pay off easily later in my life I am going to need to go to a cheap college because I am trying to get a degree in Occupational Therapy which is not one of the highest paying careers for the costs of the degree so I am most likely going to a public college unless I were to somehow get a full ride to a private

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, some 20.5 million students are expected to attend American colleges and universities, constituting an increase of about 5.2 million since fall 2000. In addition to this increase of incoming college students, the constant question of “why” does as well. You have one side that says yes! They believe that college is the answer to America’s problems, while the other hand, says that college is not necessarily the answer. Although both of these sides seem to be on the opposite spectrum of everything; they both agree on a few common themes. One being that they both desire for America to be greater and that the quality of everyone 's lives to be the best they can possibly be.
Growing up around a nurse, I have known from a young age that I wanted to work within healthcare and after researching occupational therapy I was sure that it was the career I am suited for. My results for my high school career quiz displayed many careers that I did not believe were for me, however there was one that I had never heard of that sparked my interest, Occupational Therapy. At the time, I had no idea what this career consisted of, but as time went by and I participated in various volunteering opportunities and shadowed several therapists, I began to realize that this career really intrigued me. Occupational therapists assist individuals across the entire lifespan in participating in daily living activities. They work with individuals with physical and developmental disabilities, those who have previously sustained an injury and need to regain their abilities, and the elderly population who may lose the abilities to perform certain tasks. Dedicated people in professions, such as occupational therapy, work to help each person regain his or her ability to engage in everyday activities. One wishing to pursue a career in occupational therapy would first need to evaluate the career and the significant effects on themselves and the clients.
It is best to find which college offers the best education and program for the degree plan the student want to go into. In the article “Searching for a Great College? Start Here.” By Diane Harris. Harris discusses how she found a college that had a very nice campus, gave her a very well education for his degree, and how she had “generous grants and a small loan” (Diane Harris, page 1.), the student loan bills were manageable. Even after she graduated her student loan bills were still as manageable even with their smaller salary. Not only should students search for a college with the best program for their degree, but also search for a college that offers the best program for the price. It is always good to find a college that has the best program for your degree, but students also have to find what can be more affordable. Students may not be able to get to the college of their dreams, but they have to do what is best. If students attend a more affordable college then they will have less student loans to pay off.
What if one day the tuition of your community college was to become free? If you couldn 't afford college would you go? That’s exactly what President Obama is trying to propose in his State of The Union speech on January 20th 2015. In his words he claims “to lower the cost of community college, to zero”. I am a community college student freshman at Frederick Community College. Being a community college student I value my education and feel if this new proposal is to be put in place there will be people who don’t want to be there just like high school. Community college is something that runs in my family as my two cousins have attended a junior college in the past. I am in my first year at community college and can say that it is a lot different from high school as far as the expectations and work load. We are all born to live, not to simply exist. Experiences in life have taught me there is a purpose behind each individual’s existence. Discovering this purpose, has been challenging. My educational and professional background have helped shape my immediate and long term professional goals. Becoming an Occupational Therapist has become both my immediate and long-term goals in life.
Attending college provides life time benefits. However, the rising prices of tuition is making people second guess if college is worth going to. In the article “Is College Worth it? Clearly, new data say” Leonhardt claims the significance of going to college, and the advantages it holds. Later stating, “The decision not to attend college for fear that it’s a bad deal is among the most economically irrational decisions anybody could make in 2014.” I agree with Leonhardt 's claim, college is a smart choice, and fear or money should ncot stop you from attending. By going to college there are more job options, more opportunities, in the long run it saves you more money, and at the very least you have a degree to fall back on.
There is a lot of pressure put on high school students to go to college. Junior and Senior year of high school all students hear is ‘where are you going to college’ and ‘what are you going to do with your life’. Such questions can be overwhelming and cause a lot of stress for students. It’s been put into everyone’s minds that in order to be successful you absolutely have to go to college and get a degree. Not every successful person went to college. The idea of college can put a lot of stress onto a person when they think it is the only way to be successful, but it is possible to be successful without a degree thus students should not be pressured into going to college as soon as they graduate high school.
Society tells us that after high school we must go to college and get a degree if we want to obtain success. For me going to college was the goal ever since I was a small child. Everyone in my family has gotten some form of post-secondary education. With a family like that ever Since the early ages of childhood as far I can remember my parents and family member were just always big on telling me I have to go to college to keep to better myself. After I graduated from high school the question in my house was not if I was going to go to college but instead where am I going to go to college. There was no question about if I was going to go to college or not. My parents made it clear that when august came around that year after I graduated from
