Greek architecture can be considered the cornerstone of most modern buildings especially institutional buildings around the world. The spread of this spectacular style can be seen in most areas of the world with Europe and the entire western world being at the forefront. Although most modern buildings have embedded new designs into the ancient Greek architecture, there are some areas that one can see pure Greek architectures. This paper compares the Parthenon in Athens and the Pantheon in Rome.
The Parthenon in Athens is considered one of the surviving structures and most famous building in Ancient Greece. Also, in the world, this building is considered one of the most famous. The style of this building clearly illustrated the culture of Rome as one can see how classical the design portrayed the culture. It can be seen that the building is circular with a portico of large granite Corinthian columns under a pediment. These columns are further divided, eight in the first rank and two groups of four behind. The building contains large circular domed cella, with a conventional temple portico, this was quite unique in Roman architecture and became standard classical in the culture. This building is the known best preserved ancient Roman building because it has been in use continuously since it was built. The Pantheon has been used as church as the Romans are prone on worshipping since the ancient time.
