The stories of “The Necklace” by Guy De Maupassant and “A good man is hard to find” by Flannery O’Conner have many similarities to each other at first glance however, when analyzing deeper into the context, there are obvious differences that be found. The main characters of both of the stories are Mathilde from “The Necklace” and the grandmother from “A good man is hard to find”. Both of these characters are similar to each other as they both share their manipulative and controlling nature in such a way that causes the other characters in the stories to succumb to their desires, they also suffer from the sin of pride as they both refused to admit their mistakes which ultimately leads to their downfall, and the events that they encountered within their story eventually lead them both to undergo character change. …show more content…
