Many people have different explanation about the Holocaust. They have different explanations because they might have lived it in a different way. Each person may have worst moments than other people. It also depends if they don't want to talk about it because it brings them horrible memories. So many survivors have a story to tell, so many people have a point to make. But what all of them are going to say is that it was horrible that they don't want to talk and remember about it. Elie Wiesel’s Night and the book Maus reveal the following theme; Never give up even when life is tough (or when things seems hopeless). These two books talk about the horrible moments and stories that happened in the Holocaust. They have many subject in common as differences. So many people want to try to understand the horror or maybe help others to understand it better.
The book Night by Elie Wiesel is an autobiography that describes Elie 's time in the Holocaust. He is a sixteen year old jewish boy in the Auschwitz concentration camp. He is a thin scrawny boy, but is very strong. His hair is coal black, but looks bad because it is very short and greasy. His eyes look dark and cold with sadness in them because of the loss he’s experienced in the concentration camp. His hands are torn to pieces because he is a hard worker. He is very dirty due to not being able to shower often. Bruises are found all over him from the beating he often gets if he does not follow protocol in the concentration camp. His feet are cut up and often bleeding because he is on them so much. The bags under his eyes are so distinct because he gets no sleep. His body is broken down and hurt, even after he gets out of the concentration camp his body has still not recovered from the scars.

The Harlem Renaissance was the name given to the cultural, social, and artistic explosion that took place in Harlem between the end of World War I and the middle of the 1930s. During this period, Harlem was a cultural center, drawing black writers, artists, musicians, photographers, poets, and scholars. Many had come from the South, fleeing its oppressive caste system in order to find a place where they could freely express their talents. The Harlem Renaissance was a cultural movement where African American poets were writing about the racial tension they experience. Most poems came from Harlem and were about the injustices and pride the black community felt. One famous poet was Langston Hughes. Hughes works were about the African American life starting in the twenties. Langston Hughes was the best writer of the Harlem Renaissance. He wanted his poems to the point and simple, rather than complex and wordy. His works were not written in sonnet like many other black poets. He believes that poem from African American poet should be different from their experiences. He wanted to tell real stories that including good and bad times that happen. Robert Browning's poem "Meeting at Night" is essentially a narrative of a man who is journeying to meet his lover. The man recounts his journey as he undertakes it, mentioning or observing different portions of the trip, each in turn. One by one, he briefly describes his surroundings as he passes by them, merely noting them as if they bear only fleeting significance to him. However, although his descriptions are unpretentious and abruptly forgotten as he continues onward toward his goal, each line of the poem contains striking imagery. In fact, it should be noted that this poem consists entirely of imagery. Every line depicts a scene of the landscape that Browning's narrator encounters; that is, at least, until he finally reaches his destination, when his focus is diverted to his lover. Throughout the entire poem he offers no personal insight or reflection on his situation, and he instead is content to merely report his perceptions and observations as they come and go. Although each of these little vignettes is of seemingly small consequence in itself, these individual images are each portrayed with remarkable style and feeling, and Browning skillfully strings these images together to elicit specific feelings and reactions from his readers. His masterful application of imagery, mood, and dynamic movement serve to shape the poem's emotion in such a way that the reader can tap into a plentiful well of information pertaining to the state of the speaker and his emotions -- information that initially goes unnoticed from a strictly literal observation.

Langston Hughes was one of the great writers of his time. He was named the “most renowned African American poet of the 20th century” (McLaren). Through his writing he made many contributions to following generations by writing about African American issues in creative ways including the use of blues and jazz. Langston Hughes captured the scene of Harlem life in the early 20th century significantly influencing American Literature. He once explained that his writing was an attempt to “explain and illuminate the Negro condition in America” (Daniel 760). To fulfill this task, he wrote 15 volumes of poetry, six novels, three books, 11 plays, and a variety of non-fiction work (Daniel 760). He also edited over 50 books in his time (McKay).
