11 May 2016 King vs X The Civil Rights Movement was a national movement created by black people and their supporters during the 1950’s and 1960’s. Their goal was to omit segregation and gain equal rights. There were many leaders and movements in which each had different ideas and views of opposing or fighting back against segregation. “In any nonviolent campaign there are four basic steps” (King Jr.) It was a big movement and it changed many lives of people. Leaders would have nonviolent resistance or violent resistance and views against whites because of how they are treated. He was an American Baptist minister, an activist, humanitarian. King growing up had both of his parents and lived in a middle class family. King was influenced by Gandhi’s and his way of nonviolence against unfair laws and equal rights as Gandhi with Great Britain. His mentions of non-violence encouraged many blacks to band together and protest without violent means.
Malcolm X was another leader and promoted black supremacy and in more reasonable violent resistance, as of in any means necessary to fight racism and protect one’s self. X’s father was killed when he was very young by white supremacists. His mother was sent to a mental health institution, he and his siblings were moved away and sent to different foster homes. Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery
