Socrates has been considered an influential philosopher all throughout history. He used critical thinking to analyze life and created a socratic way of thinking. While Socrates was an important figure in history, Jesus Christ was also a major leader that changed the world with the introduction of Christianity. While analyzing these two men through comparing and contrasting, there are significant similarities and differences regarding their teachings, trial and punishment, and their overall impact on the society. Socrates was a man that was always learning. Even though he had taught many students in his lifetime, he himself viewed himself as a student. In Euthyphro, Socrates converses with Euthyphro and continuously asks him to establish the meaning of impiety and piety (Plato 6). In Apology, Socrates is tired in court for corruption of the youth (Plato 20). Many of his enemies had accused him of this crime for not acknowledging the existence of the gods in his teachings (Plato 27). While Socrates put up a good fight against his accusers, it was not enough to walk about not guilty. Socrates was sentenced to execution and was locked away in jail (Plato 38). When the time had come for Socrates’s execution, he drank poison and was poisoned to death (Plato 115). Jesus also had been put to an unfair death based on what is enemies had accused him of. Because Jesus refused to stop preaching about Christianity, he was condemned to death by the Romans. Endless tortures were put upon Jesus for several days as he was hung upon a cross. His official death was death by crucifixion (John. 19). Both men were charged and put to death for their crimes based on another 's word. While Socrates was not a religious man, he did not fear death. He believed that whatever is after death should not be feared because it is unknown (Plato ). Socrates also
