Throughout human civilization, empires have risen and fell, ruling over different people in different land. Of those various empires, the Mongol and the Greece empire are some of the most important empire that ever existed. Both empires have their unique characteristics; nevertheless, the effect both has on modern society is still great. The Mongol empire was ruled by Genghis Khan, a very vigorous and ambitious man who became the first khan after he was able to unite the various nomadic, Mongol tribes. After the various Mongol tribes were united, the ruthless and vicious army went into battle, effectively expanding the area ruled by the Mongols. After Khan’s death, the empire was divided into khanates, each ruled by one of his son. In 1279, Khubilai Khan was able to defeat the last of the Song dynasty and conquer China. After the conquest of China, the Mongols made used of the local bureaucracy. They retained the tripartite division as well as the six ministries. However, unlike the Mongols, the Greeks also relied on the agriculture of fruits and vegetables. Democracy from the Athenians increased the Greeks belief of the rule of law. In addition, the Spartans’ strict militaristic structure led successful warriors, making the army more powerful. However, like the Mongols, disunity caused a war between the two main city-state, leading to internal instability and the decline of the empire. Overall though, the Greece empire was and still is very influential in today’s society.
