The two story High Noon and "The Most Dangerous Game" are alike in some ways, but very different in many other ways also. There are many similarities and differences between the story “The Most Dangerous Game” and the episode of Gilligan's Island that we watched. Some similarities include: someone is being hunted, the setting is similar, and both victims get away in the end. Some differences include: the moods of the stories, the strategies that are used by the huntees, and how the hunter got to the island.
Where does the line of sport and murder intersect in hunting? Is it when the species being hunted is able to reason? Or is it when the species being hunted looks just like the hunter? In both movie and film, we see a man fight for his life and another going against all codes of ethics. While Connell’s “The Most Dangerous Game” and Ernest B. Schoedsack’s film adaptation both have several similarities, the difference are also apparent in each respective media.
Being hunted on an island is an experience like no other, whether it is a film or a short story. “The Most Dangerous Game” started off as a short-story, but was later turned into a film. Like many other films, the director has done some adjustments that differ from the short-story. The plot, setting, and characters were revised from the original form in the short-story. However, the difference in the characters was the most influential part that changed throughout the film.

The Westing Game novel and movie contains many similarities and differences that are worth your time.
A fairly obvious comparison between these two stories is the setting in which they take place. Both occur in New England territory, mainly in the forests and hilly country. It also seems as if the land in each of the tales is rocky and hard to work. The geographical features of these lands sound much the same. In fact, each of the two takes place in an area very close to, if not in, Massachusetts. Tom Walker lives a few miles from Boston, while Jabez Stone lives in New Hampshire, near the area where that state meets up with Vermont and Massachusetts. Daniel Webster lives in Massachusetts, in a town called Marshfield. The geographical and cartographical similarities here show an obvious parallel between the two.

To begin with, the setting for “The Most Dangerous Game” is very fitting. The author, Richard Connell, picked the best place to set the story. Reason being, the mansion is on a large island that is feared by everyone. Also the mansion, on the outside at least, looks scary. Since it was dark out and there were cliffs surrounding the house, there was a scary shadow that was cast down. While on the yacht, Sanger Rainsford, the main character or protagonist, came across this island and asked for the name. His friend Whitney replied, “The old charts call it ‘Ship Trap Island’,” (Connell). Ship Trap Island is the name of the island. It doesn’t sound like a happy place to be but it is the dark and violent thoughts and feelings that come with the title, which perfectly fits the theme of the story.
