In the past, people saw fairy tales as all-powerful, because they are extraordinary, imaginative, and enrich people’s spiritual worlds. People need fairy tales to satisfy their need for leisure, which is an alternative way for them to escape their repetitive daily tasks. Watching movies can educate individuals about fairy tales. Fairy-tale stories are better read, than when being viewed as movies. Parents read ‘’Little Red Riding Hood’’ with children in order to teach them more traditions from older generations. Teachers require students to read “Snow White’’ to improve their creativity, and “The Three Little Pigs’’ to teach children how to cooperate with others to build their character.

The fairy-tale version of “The Journey to The West’ is a Chinese fairy tale written in the 16th century during the Ming Dynasty. This book attributed to Wu Cheng En. “The story of the late –Ming novel Xiyouji(The Journey to the West)is loosely based on the famous pilgrimage of Xuanzang, the monk who went from China to India inquest of Buddhist scriptures.” (Yu,1). XuanZang faced many dilemmas, and “On his way to india, he passed through many kingdoms” (Wu,4). He managed to overcome them all. As we know, fairy tales are a dominant entertainment form that parents encourage. A recent study shows that reading fairy tales plays an important role in children’s development, especially improving children’s creativity. These stories not only use a particular character, the plot of ups and downs and vivid pictures to engage children, but also improve children are reading skills. To be more specific, a fairy-tale character might work harder and become a better person, which helps their critical thinking skills, thus encouraging the child’s imagination for his or her future possibilities. All of these skills help to expand people’s experience and improve their emotional cognition. In contrast, viewing a movie will not give such experiences as fairy-tale stories
