Scientific, medical, and mathematical advances have changed the world; without them the human race would be very different. Inventions have shaped the world that is known today. In Asia and Europe these developments have been very prominent since 1648. Each continent has several similarities and differences between their innovations. Both continents had similar use of electricity, created victims, and innovated mathematics. The main differences consist of the use of steam, the lack of industrial revolutions in Asia, and the differences in medicine. These differences and similarities in the advancements in Europe and Asia have improved the standard of living for most; however, there are drawbacks to them. In Europe, there were three industrial revolutions; the first was driven by steam, the second was driven by electricity, and the third was driven by technology. These three revolutions made the Europe that is seen today. They are responsible for machine factories, skyscrapers, and much more. There were no industrial revolutions in Asia. There were many factors why no revolutions occurred. One reason was the fact that the population was so high in China that food was planted instead of cotton. Cotton had fueled the industrial revolution in Britain; the textile factories was where the factories started. Innovation and experimentation were looked down upon in China due to the role of Confucian culture in the Qing dynasty and the hierarchical culture. British imperialism is the reason why the revolutions did not happen in India. India became the crown jewel of the British Empire after the Revolutionary War. The British controlled the Indian government and viewed the Indians as inferior. Due to the fact that Britain controlled India, Britain did not invest in the scientific developments of the Indians. To the British, India only served one purpose; this was to be the buyers of the products of the British factories. In many ways, ancient Asia has always been far more advanced than Europe. There was bad science in Europe, such as geocentrism. Asia has been more progressive in the field of science. While Europeans were using the periodic table to attempt with medicine, the Chinese were using herbs, acupuncture, and chi energy to cure people. Before the Europeans, the Chinese understood the sugar and diabetes connection. Although William Harvey is credited with the knowledge, Asians understood blood circulation long before Europeans. The Chinese also used willow bark, the plant which aspirin is derived, to cure pain. Asians, especially the Chinese, were far more advanced and discovered many scientific revolutions before the Europeans even though they are credited to many of
