Development community health services is an interesting, eye opening course. When I started this course, I did not know much. I remember the first week of discussion, one of my class mate wrote how excited she was about this course and I was curious to find out her reason. Today, I have a better understanding about community health services and I also find it exciting. In this final concept paper, I will be analyzing the concepts and the effectiveness of those concepts to provide better access to healthcare within the community. The health of a nation is dependable on the community health and for that reason it should be given enough attention. Community health service is a service for everyone no matter the age, gender, race, ethnicity in the community. The uninsured and underinsured would be able to get treatment, immunization, preventative and health care. There are four types of community health care: “the free clinics, community health center, hospital clinics or for-profit clinics” (Solomon. L., & Asaro, T., 1996., p.260). Each community does a yearly community health assessment by collecting and analyzing data and “in terms of mortality and morbidity” (Kankakee County Community Health Profile. 2015.p.35). The data are used to educate and mobilized communities, to improve the community health (“Community Health assessment”, n.d.). Health care cost is unaffordable to those who are underinsured, uninsured and poor. Most of them might be working part time, multiple to job or underpaying job and can’t afford to miss a day or even an hour from their job. One way to reach these society would be thru retail or urgent care run by nurse practitioner and physician assistance because of their low cost, convenience of time frame and outcomes. Naylor and Kurtzman (2010) study demonstrates that patient outcomes: including mortality; satisfaction; physical, emotional, and social functioning, were found to be the same between those seeing nurse practitioners and physicians. It is important to educate the population how health care is changing fast and may have to redefine the future role of the physician as well as NPs. The only drawback of the retail or urgent care could be the reduced technical backup that may affect the overall quality of service provided (Burns, David and Helmsmen, 2011,
