The relationship between work life balance and organizational commitment. Recently the percentage of the participation in labor market is getting higher and higher, thus the notion on how to strike a balance between work and family has been a big issue in human resources management. Not only the conflict of work and family will insert an adverse effect to the staffs’mental health, quality life and lifestyle pattern, it will also affect their working attitude, willingness and even the mobility as well as the effectiveness of the organization. The organi-zational set of values define both the uniqueness of the organization as well as the fundamental direction of the organizational operation. Organizational effectiveness depends greatly on the commitment of employees to the company’s vision and pur-pose and to oneself. Employees with greater commitment are found with higher self-confidence and stronger sense of integrity which makes them more willing to share the credit for success and encourages better and continual self-improvement. Technological advancement and competitive industry environment will lead to changes in workforce and affect the employees from the delivery services industry. On the other hand, rapid changing social conditions such as changes in work culture, work needs, family needs, increase of family with dual working parents, single-parent family, eldercare responsibility, etc, may have different impacts on the employees as well as their organizational commitment. According to Kossek, 2005, work pressure affect level of organizational commitment negatively. The studies of work-life balance examines the balance between work, and many other aspects of life, including family, intimate relationship, friendships, leisure activities, religious activities, money issues, etc. While previous studies have been focusing on different industries, such as business, construction, education, healthcare and military, few focuses on the delivery services industry, especially in Hong Kong.
