Antonio Mike 5th hour September 15, 2016 Coming of Age in the Dawn land In the “Coming of Age in the Dawn land” by Charles C. Mann shows the reader of how the pilgrims traveled in the ocean and their first encounter with the Native people. It shows the story/history of the pilgrims when they traveled over sea and encountered Native people for the first time. It also showed how the pilgrims were into God and how he protected them from the people on the ship and when they were attacked by Indians when they got ambushed by the boat. The pilgrims try to do whatever they could please God, so in return God would watch and protect them while they travel from place-to-place. It tells a little about Tisquantum and the meaning of his name and also about his history, then it tells about the history of the pilgrims and also what happen and what they did and events. It tells information like “ten thousand years ago, when Indians in Mesoamerica and Peru were inventing agriculture and coalescing into villages, New England was barely inhabited”. The passage tells us more about the history than telling a story and this passage actually and honestly was boring to me because there weren’t really any exciting moments in the passage.
