Recommended: Describe transitions from childhood to adulthood

What does it mean to come of age? It means the transition from being a child into an adult. It is when you start to let go of your childhood and are becoming more aware of the world around them. That in-between time where you are conflicted with the ever intimidating presence of adulthood and the comfort of familiarity of childlike tendencies and carefree mentalities. Everyone at some point in their life will go through this and some wish their lives away to become an adult and receive all the benefits of becoming an adult. I want to give some advice to all the kids out there and the people who are in the beginnings of adulthood: enjoy your youth now while you still have it. I have been working since I was a senior in high school and had a regular teenage job working at our local Mexican restaurant. I worked for them for 2 and a half years and knew that I wanted to do something different and better for my life. I was in a vocational school my senior year and finished my class after my graduation in 2014. My head was teaming with the thoughts of starting my own company and being my own boss. I wanted to take the business world by storm! About that time my dad had been laid off from his job and his whole career field seemed to have disappeared as well. It was left up to my mom, sister, and me to make money and pay for all of our bills. Now it sounds as if that is quite a bit of money coming in, but if you take a hostess, nanny, and a fast food workers paychecks into account, that’s not a lot of money. I was so stressed beyond belief and couldn’t quite catch my breath from the waves of bills and responsibilities that came crashing over me. My hopes of going to college and getting into business school all became a pipe dream. I ended up getting a second job at the State Highway Department in Muskogee and couldn’t have been happier! I was working 8 hours a day and getting paid quite nicely for just a 19 year old!
