Colombia is a country that is still striving to establish themselves as a country of wealth, peace, and political power nation in South America. Colombia in itself, is located in a very important part of the world it has two seashores that border the country to the north and the west. This alone makes it accessible to anyone in the world, making Colombia one of the most conflicting countries in South America. Its geography is remarkable from its seashores, to its mountains in the south, and its rain forest to the South East part of this country, make Colombia a beautiful place to visit. Its political ambitions and continuous search for freedom keeps Colombians optimistic and willing to welcome change.
The country of Colombia inhabitants have long settled the country long before the Spaniards arrived. In 1510, the Spaniards founded the first permanent European settlement in the American mainland. Latter in the year of 1538 they established the colony of New Grenada that consisted of the following countries: Panama, Colombia, Venezuela, and Ecuador. These counties formed this region for the next 300 plus years. During this time, there was a 14-year struggle that led to the independence in the year 1824. At this time, Colombia was part of the Greater Republic of Colombia until 1830. During the following years, the Greater Republic of Colombia saw plenty of conflicts between its political parties that eventually lead to civil war. After the civil war was over, the greater Colombia had different tittles that included United States of New Grenada; the United States of Colombia; and it held the title of the Republic of Colombia until 1903. As we are now able to see that Colombia is a country in which we can all benefit from, it has a strategic geographical location and plenty of natural resources that would be helpful for the United States. Colombia and its inhabitants are able to withstand and defend their own believes and nation. At the same time, we can all learn from them in how they utilize their resources and allow the government to take charge and make the decisions needed in order for the country to work flawlessly. Colombia and its people will continue enjoy their freedoms and enjoy what their country has to offer to its inhabitants.
