We call ourselves a civilized community, let’s recall that we as humans put thought into our lives, our culture, our actions although we don’t put much of this element towards our deeds, we see ourselves as good people and criticize others for such imperfections and mistakes. Now picture this, a person who accuses others, “Oh look at my new Lamborghini! Oh hey you see my dazzling art collection!” Yeah very stereotypical and irritating I hope you assume that my point is we don’t see our mistakes clearly but no matter what, we seek perfection among others AKA the constant mess of human civilization.

The reality of life, is that we don't invite those from the other side. we don't go around asking other cultures or society how they do things. We believe that the way we live is the best, and we are to stubborn to admit that we are interested. We are curious of others do things, but we are also afraid. Everyone has a dark side that develops over their lifetime, each depending on life encounters. If no one had a dark side then there would be no crime, murder, or other criminal actions. Certain events can impact a person and how these things are perceived, and what information is retained from these events affects their developing dark side. How you are raised and the attitude that has been instilled in you by your guardians also affects your developing dark side. If you’re lacking a constitution or backbone, you’re more likely to develop a dark side. Also the environment we grow up in such as the schools we attend, the neighborhood we live in, and the media were surrounded by set the foundation for the type of people we’ll become.
There are several, in-depth connections presented in The Tempest by William Shakespeare, "Of Cannibals" by Michel de Montaigne, "How to Raise Your I.Q. by Eating Gifted Children" by Lewis Frumkes, and "A Modest Proposal" by Jonathan Swift. While all these stories feature civilization and the uncivilized coming into contact with one another, perhaps for the first time, they also feature a deeper connection. They feature a connection to each other that strikes to the very heart and structure of our civilizations today-just as it did when these works were written. That connection is the idea that the "noble savage" (if there is such a thing) is appalled at what we call civilization because of how unjust, uncaring, and unkind we are to one another. The works point out how the savage perhaps is just the innocent and we are the ones who ought to be called savages-not because of what our culture does, but what it does not do.
Society constantly changing rules and culture is the main reason for conflict between people. This is displayed in “Kindred” were numerous African descending people are enslaved. In the novel Rufus and Dana -the main characters- have a difficult time getting along. This is because they were raised in different societies with different cultural acceptance. In the novel, you can observe Dana struggles with trying to fit in and stay out of trouble, and Rufus frustration in trying to control her. As seen in this novel, the thing people are taught or use to often time interfere with their good judgment and can make overlook things that are morally wrong.
The rulers of the society, have managed to convince the citizens that selflessness, as well as worship of the word “we”, is the only way to live. In this society, one does not think, speak, or act, in a way that is beneficial to oneself. Every single citizen is indoctrinated with the belief that by acting for one’s own benefit, they are sinning. From a young age, they are taught the mantra of their society, “We are nothing”. Mankind is all about us.

At the start of the semester, my oblivious state of nature associating with the Chinese culture reached an unacceptable level. Implementing a necessary change, I decided to educate myself on different cultures starting with China. I failed to ponder that such a rich, deep culture existed outside America. Encompassed by this country’s unique yet suffocating melting pot culture, my outlook believed ideas such as uniformity between American Chinese food and Authentic Chinese food. After this course, my bigot perspective widened as I witnessed diversity in the world. Before this class, when I thought of Chinese food, my connotation jumped to thoughts associated with chop suey, but as I progressed my education, my mindset gradually pondered foods like steamed buns or “New Year Cakes” with authentic Chinese food.
Think about something you never did in high school but wish you had done. Now imagine your time at college. Propose taking up something daring and new, and describe how it might affect your life.
Human nature is quite perplexing. It has the surprising tendency to baffle you .Apart from the obvious dimensions that continue to shade the human behavior, this bafflement emanates from the inability of human beings to gauge the true profundity and worth of a particular thing or a situation in the absence of a palpable evidence. Call it a genetic malfunction or a psychological concern, till the time we do not see anything from our very own eyes, get to hear of it from reliable sources, or get to read of it in eminent literary works ,we fail to acknowledge the very occurrence of that episode, let alone endeavoring to understand it. This is how the dynamics of human attitudes and behavior has been since the very genesis of this world.
Starting college is an intense and confusing event that plagues all recent high school graduates. It is like trying to run when all you can do is crawl, and for many freshmen, myself included, one can get easily overwhelmed by the daunting task of picking a major when less than two months ago some of our parents still packed our lunches for us every morning. The concept of entering college tends to be frequently skewed and expecting an eighteen year old to decide what they want to do for the rest of their lives, without having them actually experiment in different areas, has the potential to create a generation of adults who are aggravated and depressed in their careers.
I have always had a passion to learn. My interest is in political theory and economics, hoping someday to become a lawyer and stateswoman. I realize that in order to reach any of these goals, a college degree is vital. When I in turn reach my goals, I will use them to encourage and uplift my community by investing my time, money, energy, and influence to become a stepping stone for others.
As we all have observed, throughout history each culture or society has unique norms that are acceptable to that group of people. Therefore, to establish and come to the acceptance of these basic norms, each society must develop its’ own strategies and techniques to encourage the fundamentals of behavior, which is clear in our modern society. Most do assume that everyone in a society will follow and respect such norms. However, some tend to deviate from the adequate norms and demonstrate deviant behavior. Nevertheless, we are inclined to ask ourselves, why do people decide to violate such important standards of living?
To remain competitive and employable in the twenty-first century workplace, society today must conform to the changing demands. Technology is one of the principal driving forces of the future; it is transforming our lives and shaping our future at rates unprecedented in history, with profound implications, which we cannot even begin to see or understand.
Now that we have explored my past, present, and future experiences with diversity, it is time to see how they are present within and effect each other. Firstly, let’s look into how my future is present in my past. The most obvious portion of my future that is in my past is my willingness and efforts to love and include everyone and to spread this world view. It took a fellow classmate of mine to demonstrate to my third grade self that we are all human beings and we all deserve to be treated as such. In my future, I aspire to demonstrate this world view to my students and inspire them to treat each other accordingly.
