A role model is someone that is sought for guidance, and often admired. When thinking of my own role model, the qualities I wish to have when I become an adult come to mind. When scanning through the many influential adults that have shaped who I am today, deciding on just one role model is a difficult feat. However, I see the person I wish to become, reflected in the life of my dad. For that reason, my role model is my own father. In my life, I aspire to be just as intelligent, hard working, and dedicated as my dad.
To begin, I look up to my dad for his intelligence. My Dad is a locomotive engineer, and also runs his own handyman service on the side. For this reason, the typical uninformed individual would dismiss this trait as invalid, …show more content…

With no bias, he is the hardest working person I have ever met. Driving early morning trains, my dad goes to work at 4 a.m. When he is dismissed from his “real job” around one O’clock, he then heads to one of the various homes he is working on, and works until he is required to get my siblings and I off the bus. If no one ever stopped him, I not sure he would. Not only does my father dedicate tremendous time and attention to what he does, he ensures it is perfected. For a brief period in his over 20 years working at NJ Transit, my dad was a manager. However, upholding that position he quickly lost many of his friends. My father instructed that things be done the proper way, and would not accept the slacking that many of his friends previously had gotten away with. Needles to say, my dad soon stepped down from the position, and continued to ensure things were done correctly, and he still enjoyed work, by doing them himself. With a busy work schedule and the seemingly constant need for sleep, my dad always makes time for his family. Whether it’s rushing home to chaperone a field trip, or strategically planning vacation days to be off when the rest of the family is, my dad is a dedicated husband, and father. Through all the chaos of life he makes time to have dinner with us every night, coach baseball and football, carpool friends, and voluntarily construct sets for the productions I am apart of. Not only does he do these things things, but he does them with love. The bond and dedication my father has given me, is something I will be forever grateful for. When I grow to an adult with my own family, I can only hope to be just as dedicated as my father. For, his dedication is a truly admirable
