A Coat of Arms is the distinctive heraldic bearings or shield of a person, family, corporation, or country. Another word for Coat of Arms is “Heraldry.” Every family has their own different and unique Coat of Arms. Some may have the same surname, but may have originated in different places. It’s unique to their family and their family alone.
My Coat of Arms was Cortez. It originated from Spain as you can see in the bottom. The shield is in the shape of a heater. The heater-shape is a form of a European medieval shield. Not all Coat of arms have a heater-shaped shield though, some could have a lozenge-shaped shield. However, this type of shape is only carried around by women.
A Coat of Arms always have to have color. Another word for color
The United States Army, in its current state, is a profession of arms. In order to be considered a profession, the organization must have an ethical code rooted in values, strong trust with its clients, and be comprised of experts within the trade. These experts are constantly developing the trade for the present and the future and hold the same shared view of their trade culture.
What I would like to find out is who designed the first ever gun, how was it used, and was it affective? I also want to know which guns were used during important parts of history? There are numerous questions for each stage of history for different types of guns. For example when did the U.S. army first start using the flintlock muskets? How were these muskets improved over time? What was the ammunition that they were using in this time period? How was it made and was it difficult to make? What I how to achieve is a...
Opening Statement: During the 12th Century Crusades, European Lords began to use the Coat or arms as a means of unity of the families of the knights marching for the holy land.
The Palette of Narmer was created on a flat stone surface; the artists then carved the story into the flat stone in a very specific manor. This palette is known for representing the coming together of Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt (Stokstad and Cothren, 52). At the top of the palette on both sides shows two bulls that were said to possibly represent the goddess Hathor. Hathor was known as the goddess of protection, and is depicted in other Egyptian art as a woman with cow ears (British Museum, no page). In between the heads of Hathor is the name of the King Narmer, written with iconography called serekh. In this serekh, one can see the Horus falcon head and below it is the name of the king. The falcon head is said to protect the Egyptian ruler (Kinnaer). Although this is just one small piece of the top of the palette, it already starts to depict an enormous part of history in Egypt.
I feel that the “Don’t Give Up The Ship” flag, that was flown on Oliver Hazard Perry’s ship during the battle of Lake Erie, needs to be kept in the museum; as it holds the historic relevance of the US Navy during the 1800’s and beyond. The flag was originally made in 1813,the Georgian era, making it 204 years old. This flag not only represents and inspires the midshipman of the Naval Academy, but it has been an inspiration to all sailors over the past 204 years. When you walk into the museum after visiting the second deck the first thing you see is this flag and you can’t miss it. The brown color with the spotting of the blue makes you realize just what those five words actually mean. I feel it was placed here, at the Naval Academy, for
The American Legion, chartered by Congress in 1919, was created as a patriotic veterans’ organization. The men and women who run this organization have been devoted to helping the men and women in the armed forces and their families for 96 years. The American Legion is a non-profit and nonpartisan organization and has been standing behind the issues that are most important to veteran communities in the nation. Being part of a military family isn’t glamorous, I know from experience. My father just retired from the U.S. Air Force last year, and my brother is in the Air Force and is currently deployed in Turkey. Military families sacrifice so much for our country. The American Legion is doing their part to support these families for their sacrifice.
As of 2013, all 50 states allow concealed carry of handguns (Concealed Carry Reciprocity Maps), although a few states don’t require a permit and the standards for licensing vary greatly from state to state. In the U.S. most states are “Shall Issue” states. This means they will grant anybody a permit that meets certain guidelines such as being 21 or older and not having any felony convictions, a history of mental illness or domestic abuse. A handful of other states are “May Issue” states. In these other states, such as Maryland, a permit will only be issued if you can prove you need it. This can be a large obstacle and these states will usually only issue permits to people in the public eye, wealthy individuals that are well-connected or business owners frequently transporting large sums of cash (Concealed Carry Reciprocity Maps). Although the requirements and standards are different wherever you may live, one thing holds true- concealed carry permit holders are rapidly growing. The market for handgun training, concealed carry courses and smaller, more concealable handguns have opened up. When concealed carry was first gaining popularity there were two very different schools of thought. Some thought that violent crime would decrease, as criminals would fear the everyday person that just may happen to be armed. Others thought that having people carrying around concealed handguns in public would lead to an increase in violent crime with people losing their temper and shooting each other. When analyzing the data and crime trends, it is clear that with this influx of concealed carry permit holders there has not been a corresponding increase in violent crime.
A controversial topic that has been an issue in the United States for years since the enactment of the Second Amendment is the issue of gun control. In the past, the United States have had numerous issues with gun control; as a result, the Second Amendment was added to resolve this issue. Before the creation of the Second Amendment the main purpose of guns were for self protection, hunting, and territorial expansion. The first pioneers to arrive in America had to use guns to protect themselves from animals and the Native Americans. The use of guns also helped the pioneers to hunt for food and to expand their territories. During the years of 1880-1920 the prohibition era started in the United States, which led to an increase in gangsters and
The benefit of having a concealed weapons permit in the United States of America is that fact that you know you are always safe not having to depend on others, but having the ability to protect yourself. “In June 2008, the court ruled the law that strictly limited the possession of handguns in the Washington, D.C. area as unconstitutional (Levinson).” In our nation’s capital this happened, because if individuals were not given the right of a concealed weapon or any kind of gun that is not going along with the Constitution of the United States. Which States “"A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. (The Bill of Rights)" “The court ruled that
The American War of Independence started with the thirteen colonies who rebelled against a tyrannical monarchy in 1775 and in turn ended a rule of two centuries by British Empire in the Americas. However, this revolutionary war was not only a conflict fought between American colonist and Britain but a world conflict encompassing many of the most powerful European powers of that time. It could be considered one of the first “World Wars” of that time to alter the equilibrium of European colonial supremacy throughout the world and which will continue to for several more centuries to come.
A concealed carry is the practice of carrying a concealed firearm on one's person in public. many people believe that concealed carry's should be allowed because they allow people to prevent crimes in the act without need for anyone else. Concealed carry's also allow people to protect themselves from home burglaries or animal attacks. Concealed carry should be permitted in the United States because it allows people to deter crimes and protect themselves from animals and other humans.
The reason of the Pledge of Allegiance is said in school is to instill a sense of patriotism amongst students. Most teachers make students stand up for the pledge which should not be compeled because the pledge of allegiance says “justice for all” and black people that gets killed by white police while the victim gets no justice for losing their life (Longman). Another reason people should not have to stand for the pledge due to the oppression of underserved people, the fast that there is no consensus, and the freedom of religion. The indict seems not to apply to police officers. However, it seems like we do not even have freedom of speech because of gun happy police. Some people say the
Do you have not only a legal, but a moral right to own a gun? Do you believe that you have either a moral or a legal right to park a car with a loaded gun in a privately owned parking lot, regardless of what the lot’s owner wants?
Most people believe a coat of arms to be a shield of some sort that knights used in the middle ages to protect themselves in battle. In reality, a coat of arms consists of more than just a shield. There are actually five elements in a coat of arms: the shield, the crest, the helm, the wreath and the mantle or mantling. Each of these elements creates what is know as a coat of arms. While it is true that knights did indeed wear coats of arms during battle, the emblem was not only found on the armor used for protection in battle but also appeared on flags and clothing.
Concealed Gun Carry is an very sensitive topic to discuss. Though many lives have been lost due to no solution being made to the decision on concealed gun carry. In the Unites States violence is increasing along with other terrible crimes including assault. Some people view allowing concealed gun carry will become more problematic in the U.S. Others believe allowing concealed gun carry can help improve lower violent crime rates. I believe gun concealed gun carry laws should be allow because crime rates will be decreased , citizens will be allowed an effective way to self defense , and have protection in their homes.
