He has also been coaching mid-distance and long sprints in Track and Field for 5 years as well. Originally, Coach Mulgrew is from Palm Springs, California. Because he loved the sport, Coach Mulgrew wanted to coach Track from when he was at college. He believed it was a good way to share the love of his sport. In the book, "They Call Me Coach" by John Wooden, he talks about the importance of a teacher and coach as a role model for kids. He talks about his successes he had in coaching, the lessons he has learned, and the ones he has taught. In the book, you will get to walk through his life from when he was a little kid and first fell in love with basketball to when he retired from active coaching at UCLA in 1975. He also talks about his "Pyramid of Success" and the traits that every player should have.
I think that coach Boone used some "different" approaches to getting the boy's on his team to come around and look past their ethninc diffrences. They may not have been totally approate but I think with this particular situation they were nessacary. I mean, we're talking about a time when people were still very racist. Their were some of the players that weren't racist at all, which helped the situation a little. Because their were a few guys who didn't want to be racist but were scared of what their buddies thought of them.
As we run towards the field, I can hear the echoes of the enormous crowd roaring down on the player’s entrance of the Texan’s Stadium. My team gallops behind me like wild horses that are ready for a stampede. I move them forward to reach their destination. Just as I reach the entrance into the dome, where the fog rises up to give that more dramatic feeling, I think back and wonder, “What got me here today?” “What made me who I am today?” Four years of kinesiology leading the way to pee-wee football where letting everyone play; turned into high school football, where the best players play. With patience and a strong persistent attitude, putting in at least sixty to seventy hours a week, and struggling with the disadvantages of less time with the family. Continuously working hard to be the best; trying to accomplish goals of making those thirty to fifty thousand dollars a year, watching kid after kid fight for their spot on the football team. Staying up late and going through play after play just to find that one detail that will help you gain those two extra yards that can get you that touchdown and the win. That’s the life of a high school coach according to Coach Lance Butler; he is the coach of the Wells Lady Pirate softball team.
Looking back on how much my life has changed throughout the years, I couldn't begin to imagine my life without running. I remember when I first started running in 7th grade and Coach McLeese was the head coach. Coach McLeese was the one who trained me to become a better runner, and helped define who I am today. Without Coach McLeese’s help in the beginning of my running career, I don’t think I would have made the choice to pursue running.
The emotion is intense. Everyone in the gym is on the edge of his or her seat. Time is expiring as the final shot for the win sails through air. The buzzer sounds… Athletics are a critical element of high school lives--whether it be playing for or supporting one’s team. In order to accomplish success in a season, these supporting individuals are forced to rely on a select few of premier athletes. From day one of tryouts, these athletes are crafted and molded based on their hard work as well as their ability to play in accordance with the coach’s style. At a varsity level, where victory has his or her job on the line, coaches should not be required to play every member of the team equally.
Becoming a coach comes with many ups and downs, time and commitment, but only a select few will be successful in their coaching careers if they follow the correct instructions. If coaches connect with their athletes, specify the overall focus, and establish confidence within each other, they will be the most successful coaches they can

Football coaches are essential to a team, specifically to a football team, because they are a patriarch and who the entire team admires and looks to for everything. Football coaching helps develop strategies and tactics for the team throughout the season. Some football coaches usually start at a lower lever before they better themselves for a higher level coaching position . Coaching involves countless amount of hours, training and development ,income, skills and most of all interest. Many view the potential of great coach as providing their players with the highest levels of guidance possible. From the outside people think that a great coach is great because they have all the knowledge and the ability to spot out your faults.
For example: almost every lacrosse game I have, he is the loudest person on the field. I do like this because he is encouraging and always telling me what I could do better. However it’s not criticizing. It’s more of helpful judgement. He is also very motivating. He once told me, “You have to be determined and willing to put in a lot of effort in order to succeed.” That’s encouraged me a ton and has made me realize that he is right. I need to work super hard in everything I do if I want something. Those are some of the reasons why he is the greatest coach.
Coaching, however challenging, is a great way to influence the lives of others while also building their character. For as long as there have been sports, there have been people teaching the sport to the players and making them better at it. Coaches must have certain qualities in order to obtain success. One must also look at a coach’s motivation for his job, his passion for what he does, his methods for coaching, and how he became a coach in order to fully understand him. There are many questions someone may want to ask a coach about his profession if they are interested in coaching.
