Carbon Dioxide is one of the most important and vital gasses to biological life, it sustains and is responsible for many of the living organisms on earth. At its most basic form, Carbon Dioxide (Co2) is created when both Carbon ( C ) and Oxygen (O) are mixed into one single gas. Although it helps sustain life, Co2 in excess can hurt the planet and as a result all life on it. Co2 is one of the most potent Greenhouse Gases, meaning it can trap heat and trap it here on earth, increasing global warming. Because Co2 does not reach the atmosphere it leaves the Ozone layer without damage, but if the trapped heat cant go up then it has to come down. 70% of the earth's surface is covered by water, making the oceans the most likely place trapped heat will fall into, The most detrimental problem with the oceans heating up is the melting of the Antarctic Continent. 70% of the earth's freshwater is stored in Antarctica, Co2 and water vapor are causing the continent to melt at an alarming rate. …show more content…

During the industrial revolution, many engineers needed a source of fuel to power the countless machinery created during the revolution. The chosen fuel was oil, first used by the ancient persians to caulk their ships. The man who spread oil internationally was John D. Rockefeller who built many refineries and built an immense fortune in the process. After Rockefeller's success, different nations began their own search for oil reserves, Massive reserves were found in Mexico, Venezuela, and scattered across the Middle East. Refined oil is still one of the largest fuels used throughout the world, it is also one of the largest pollutants. Other fossil fuels such as coal can also create high amounts of Co2. Burning theses fuels creates the heat that gets trapped by Co2. There's still a good chance we can stop C02 Emissions and thus, reduce global warming
