1. Statement of purpose
The purpose of our classroom is to provide a healthy, stable environment that provides a positive education. Students will gain knowledge and respect others while being creative and having fun.
2. Rules - Specific, observable, measurable, stated positively, convey expected behavior, 3-5
Some rules would be: Keep your hands and feet to yourself, stay walking in the classroom, raise your hand if you want to talk, listen to others while they are speaking, follow directions, use your words, stay happy and have fun. Raise your hand and wait to be called on, show me your listening ears if you hear me. Hang your bag up and get ready for class, put your project away and clean your spot.
3. Procedures- why, where, what, who, when, & how
Morning entry- This procedure is needed so the children’s belongings get hung up and are out of the way of the classroom. This procedure is needed in the classroom once they arrive at school. This procedure is for keeping the classroom clean and organized,

If for some reason the other teacher is not in the room due to taking care of something, by then we would choose a child we know we can count on to go straight and get another teacher to help with our crisis. We would send the other teacher or responsible student to the office to get the assistant principle or principle. While this crisis is going on the other students would be asked to go into the nap room where the teacher can let them play or read a book to so they are distracted from what’s going on. Once the crisis is over the children will go back to their classroom and the teacher will let the assistant principle or principle know what happened and then the teacher would go back to the class to finish what they were doing while the assistant principle or principle call the students parents to inform
The environment of the classroom is important because is a social place where children have to feel secure so they can become part of the lesson and for the lesson to succeed. The classroom is organized and the students are in their individual desks respectfully listening to the teachers lecture and following along. The students look
Develop effective classroom rules and consequences. When rules and consequences are specific and consistent the more effective they will be. These rules show the students what is expected of them rather than what they are not supposed to do. For example: discuss consequences beforehand, so that students know what awaits them if they behave in a certain way. (preventative strategies for classroom management,
The teachers’ job is to provide clear and concise communication to their students directly, explaining what is expected out of them and how they are to meet those expectations (Charles, 2014). Teachers should rationalize any rules that have rewards or consequences to their students to ensure they have a clear understanding. Implementing classroom procedures and rules is important for creating a classroom management routine and teachers have to be consistent in order for the system to work (Charles, 2014). Performing rudimentary day-to-day activities continually during the first few weeks of school will leave little room for error for the future (Charles,
Establish a sense of responsibility by creating rules and expectations as a class. Have clear visual cues of responsibilities and consequences around the room. Use the support of other staff in implementing classroom management strategies. Use the school discipline system to monitor student behaviour. If students engage in misbehaviour, they receive a warning and are then sent to the timeout desk to reflect and write in the timeout book.
In my class, we respect ourselves and take care of one another. I will encourage my students to try their personal best in every situation they find themselves in. I will remind students that your personal best effort does not look like your neighbors. I will structure my classroom environment so students can easily collaborate and form positive relationships with one another. The structure of my classroom environment will be full of warmth, patience, and humor creating an environment that is welcoming, safe, and fun for my students. We will look out for another and help one another reach our fullest potential individually, academically, and socially.
Another important step that needs to be taken by teachers prior to the start of the school year is to create a set of classroom rules. Creating rules is something that is necessary in creating a nurturing environment for all students. It is incredibly important for students to know the expectations of them before they enter the classroom. The first day of class serves as one of the most important days of the school year to lay out your expectations as an educator. It is important to create rules that are necessary and that you know as a teacher you will enforce.
The aim of education is to provide an individual a unique experience, providing them with a secure, caring and stimulating environment, encouraging students to develop emotionally, intellectually, physically and mentally. This environment will lay the foundations facilitating individuals to become confident, enthusiastic, self-directed learners equipped to enter the society as critical thinkers, work collaboratively and act audaciously – a skill set for the 21st century.
One of the most functioning classroom management approaches; is the development of a quality relationship amongst the teacher and the students in the classroom. Teachers who implement a relationship-building approach to classroom management by concentrating on emerging the whole student are more likely to help their students socially appropriate behaviors. Although these strategies, though helpful, they still leave teachers struggling with the most difficult students such as Ms. D's case. When parents send their children off to school each morning, they trust teachers as well as other school officials to care for their children's wellbeing. Teachers must maintain a wide range of responsibilities to students that come from a variety of federal,
“Educational practice is necessarily based on the assumption that students are willing to engage in educational activities that they will lend their cooperation and support to the process in their education. Students who do not offer such cooperation, who are unmotivated, present significant challenges” (Williams and Ivey, 2001, 75). High school school-children show the most trouble with cooperation and motivation; they only have a few more years of schooling and for some pupils that is the end of their education. That was one of the main reasons why I wanted to observe a high school classroom; the other main reason is because I have actually considered teaching high school grades. I observed Ms. Edith Stone and her Algebra II mathematics classroom.
In the 21st century, teachers experience many behavioral issues with students in the classroom and face challenges that are very difficult to resolve. School districts have different expectations about how students must behave during school and teachers have their own expectations about how students must behave in their classroom. Every educator has different classroom expectations and students must follow specific standards; therefore, the responsibility of the teacher is to discuss the standards with all students and make sure those expectations are clear. According to Jones and Jones (2016), teachers whose students made greater achievement gains were observed establishing rules and procedures, and carefully monitoring student’s work. In
It is my strong belief that each child is entitled to a safe, secure, stimulating and caring learning environment. I always believed that each child is a unique individual with much curiosity and many academic, social and emotional needs. Children need our support in order to mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. As a teacher, one should aim to help students in fulfilling their dreams to become successful and educated individuals. We must provide them with a safe learning environment for their learning to succeed.
I want the nature of the students to be relaxed, and energetic. I want the children to be curious and involved in every aspect of the learning process. I hope that the students will learn through hands on activities, as well as group and visual lessons. The students in my class should feel that the classroom...
I try imparting into them the importance of an education and how they contribute to the growth of our society. In my classroom, I am in control. I draw a clear line between what and how much my students are allowed to do in the classroom. In the first week of school, I establish my authority and I clearly and explicitly express my classroom and outside the classroom procedures that will be followed and the rights that every student has in the classroom. Some examples, all students have the right to learn, all students have a right to be heard, and all students have a right to be respected. There are consequences for those that chose not to abide. This set the tone for my classroom environment for the entire year so, that learning may take
Education serves as the foundation to a lifetime of learning. Since every child is unique, I believe that it is important for them to learn in an environment that is both secure and stimulating. By creating this type of atmosphere, the students will be able to realize their intelligence and use it constructively. As a future educator, it will be my goal to establish a classroom that is, 1) non-authoritarian, 2) student-centered, and 3) focused around student experience. These three elements are part of Progressivism, the educational philosophy I plan to incorporate in my classroom.
Teaching classroom rules and procedures will contribute to a safe and secure environment for students. Classroom rules should be the same for everyone, however, like I mentioned above there are exceptions to be made on an individual basis. All interactions within the classroom should be positive. There will be no teasing or harassing of any kind. Respect, trust, and understanding will be the foundation of classroom rules. It is important to keep an open mind and treat each student with fairness, with the hope that in return students will learn to treat each other as equals and with
