The Space Race was the competition between two Cold War rivals, the Soviet Union (USSR) and the United States (US), for supremacy of space travel and exploration. The content of Civil War was continuously taught at school since elementary. Through our past experiences and learning, my partner and I are greatly informed in this area of history which making it as an advantage for us. In addition, my partner have visited the NASA convention center where she gathered additional information to develop this project. It was a great experience for her to actually see all the technologies that were used during that period and ask questions about the future innovations. We chose this topic not just because of our passion and reliable sources for the topic but how it relates to the theme, Exploration, Encounter, and Exchange in History. We used books from the public/school library, online newspaper articles, online databases, and NASA websites, and as mentioned, going to NASA conventional centers. For the information about the Space Race, we decided to divide it into four categories: Background(including information of how Cold War began and how it lead to the Space Race), US(the impact of US space program during the Space Race), Russia(the impact of Soviet Union space program during the Space Race), and Legacies(important events and effects on future). Then using the sources listed, we researched about each topics separately. Since we were limited to only 500 words to use for the project, we found many quotes and pictures that went along with those topics to fill in the space. Instead of explaining all our thoughts on the board, we decided to communicate through quotes and pictures which shows more different points of view of looking at the Space Race. We wanted to make sure we covered everything that has to do with our topic, and also to deliver the message
