The Civil War had great leaders. Two of these leaders were Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee. They both led their soldiers to great victories throughout this time. Grant led the Union during this time and Lee led the confederacy. They both were great leaders and impacted the Civil War in many ways. If it wasn’t for these leaders, history could have been impacted in many negative ways as well. In this essay, I will tell you how these generals showed qualities of leadership throughout this time in history. Lee had shown many qualities to be chosen as a leader. He had his first military experience in 1864, and his military career took of from that moment. He served as a military officer in 1870. When June 1861 came around, he lead his troops into the Civil War. In result of this war, the Union won. The Confederates ended up surrendering which worked in the favor of the Union. In the following sentences, I will tell you how Lee’s leadership led the Union to a victory in the Civil War. Lee led the confederates in many victories. Some of these victories are the Battle of Bull Run, Seven Days’ Battles, Battle of Fort Sumter, and the Battle of Fredericksburg. Some of these battles won are called, Seven Days’ Battles, Battle of Bull Run, Battle of Fort Sumter, The Battle of Antietam, and many more. Grant was responsible, strong, and patient. He kept his head held high in any circumstances which is what you needed to do in order to be a leader. Many of his troops looked up to Grant as well. He cared for his troops and led them through the defeats and victories of the war. Grant was also one of the best known leaders and still is known by many today.
