Diary Entry: Reginald Edward Harry Dyer April 13th 1919 Today was a very eventful and proud moment in my career. I made history. Early this morning myself and other city leaders walked through the City of Amritsar to declare very clearly the curfew that was to be put in place at 20:00 and to re enforce the ban on public meetings and gatherings of more than 4 people. Mid morning I had heard news of a nationalist demonstration against the arrest of Gandhi that was to occur in the Jallianwala Bagh. All I know is no innocent lives were lost today as justice was served against criminals committing a violation against the British Empire. I feel no guilt for what went down as they knew the law was in place. If they chose to disobey the law then they must surrender for whatever may follow. The Muslims and Hindus need to learn to not defy the British Government if they wish to avoid death. I have no regrets about what happened today if I had not carried out the massacre then the message would not got across. The indians would continue their misconduct and not learn at least now my message had been sent to the rest of Punjab. Many may disagree with the actions I followed through with and say I didn't give them a warning but I did. They had that their warning and the law had been in place for a number of days so the Indians they knew the strong punishment they would face if they broke the law.I have no
