Banning cigarette and tobacco advertisement is one of the most controversial topics because statistics have shown about 20% of all deaths are caused by smoking in the United States. Each cigarette company use advertisement to sell their product and compete with similar companies. Cigarette companies will place celebrities in their advertisement to convince customers into buying a pack of cigarettes. The main focus of cigarette and tobacco advertisement is to target young teenagers because teenagers are innocent and vulnerable. The association of outside incorporations is important to company's business because they receive sponsorship. Some of the sponsors are sporting events and media companies. There are very few adults that begin to smoke at the age of 25 or older because they were not exposed to cigarette and tobacco products when they were a child. Scientists observed that if a child begins to experience with cigarette and tobacco at a young age, they will most likely smoke in their adulthood and making it harder to quit. To stop the children from using cigarette and tobacco, people created organizations and campaigns to bring awareness to parents. The Real Cost Campaign reaches out to teenagers between the age of 12 through 17 who are in danger of being involved with cigarette and tobacco items (Tobacco prevention). The organization informs young teenagers about the consequences and health risks. These types of programs and organizations utilize their advertisement to create positive reinforcement for others to be healthy and stay active. This allows teenagers to make better decisions and think twice about smoking a cigarette. The usage of cigarettes at a young age will result in premature deaths (Child and tobacco use). In 2013, 23% of high school students have dealt with a variety of tobacco products such as flavored cigars, smokeless cigars, pipes, and electronic cigarettes. About 13% have attempted to smoke more than one kind of tobacco product. There are more than 4,000 dangerous types of substances in tobacco smoke which is mostly made out of a substance called carcinogens.The harsh chemicals in each individual cigarette causes the human body to become dull and fragile, which shortens the body's life span.
