In Laura Pappano’s essay, “The Year of the MOOC”, she describes a MOOC, or a Massive Open Online Course, an online course to build a higher education for people around the world. After examining “Chunky Peanut Butter”, by James Gregory, I am convinced he’s the best college applicant to attend a MOOC because he’s flexible and can work with anyone, he’s active in the community and he never gives up. After assessing Gregory’s essay, it is obvious that Gregory’s ability to adjust to anything that is thrown at him and his ability to work with anyone heightens his marketability to be chosen as a student for MOOC. Being flexible and having the ability to work with any kind of person is a big advantage because he can respond well to the pressures of this course. He can overcome many of the challenges that the massive open online course has to offer in order to get his training. For example, In Gregory’s essay he mentions how he would “...volunteer work at a summer day camp for kids…”, and exhibited “...dedication to student council” , while also “...enthusiastically devote time to service projects through Junior Civitans that help the community” (Gregory 14, 15). This also shows that Gregory is the best candidate to enroll in a MOOC- massive open online courses. The conflicts in Shoeless Joe, by W.P Kinsella are what makes the book appealing, especially discovering how the characters deal and resolve the conflicts. Ray Kinsella, the main Character, faces many conflicts. Ray lives in Iowa with his wife, Annie, and daughter, Karen. He is a farmer, and a huge baseball fanatic. Ray struggles to overcome conflicts, not only with himself but with society and person. Eventually, he is able to solve the problems. He has to deal with his wife's brother, himself, and J.D Salinger.
In the story, “Brownies” by Z.Z. Packer the two main characters create different and clear ideas that shape the story. Notably, the character, Arnetta is very effective and manipulative, much the opposite of the frequently disregarded and ignored, flat character Laurel. These two characters are oppositional of one another but carry the central theme of racism and human cruelty in the story. Resulting in Laurel understanding that retribution has no boundaries and that one person alone cannot change this.

Murray believes that education systems in general are not efficient because they have an incorrect foundation. Murray believes that “Full participation in any culture requires familiarity with a body of core knowledge” (235). To expand, the specific subjects that young students are learning is not necessary, and students should be learning instead the fundamentals of what makes an individual culturally capable. Murray believes that this body of core knowledge should come before studying in a specific field of research. However, not only are the education systems broken, but it’s obvious that closed-space learning environments in modern-day learning institutions will be limited. Colleges and universities in the past were limited to one type of student, upper class males, but now colleges and universities are centers of education for people of all backgrounds. People from different backgrounds and opinions congregating at these centers of education, forced many colleges to evolve. By giving colleges and universities a large variety in their students, it forces them to ditch a standard on education. Due to this fact, all colleges and universities must deliver an assortment of options in the effort of giving everyone the best education possible. Evolution for colleges and universities did not end there; due to the birth of the world wide web most colleges and universities now give the option to enroll in online classes. This rise in online education spawned a new form of university, fully online universities. Author Graeme Wood presents in his essay, “Is College Doomed?” a wonderful example of what a college or university should not be. Graeme Wood describes Minerva, an online university with the goal of stripping education to only the essentials. Minerva wants to take away campuses, sports, lectures, and most amenities leaving only their version of education. Minerva’s goal to take away options for students reduces their reach, leaving only a select few with the desire to join Minerva. Limiting students only leads to a worse education, especially since the students are the ones paying for the version of education they desire. College’s most valuable asset is their plethora of options in living, community forming, studying abroad, and variety of classes, this aspect of college in particular is what creates a perfect education for any student.
Fatemeh Fakhraie’s essay “Scarfing it Down,” explains how Muslim women suffer because of what they wear. Fakhraie blogs about Muslim women in her website she explains; “Seeing ourselves portrayed in the media in ways that are one-dimensional and misleading." Several people judge Muslim's by their appearance because they assume they're a bad person. The author of this essay wants the reader to know that Muslim women wearing a hijab are not a threat to the world.

...the traditional college is in peril. The traditional college is becoming less and is transitioning more towards accelerated online courses. This allows students to even obtain a degree over the Internet. This paper provides information on both sides of the argument and allows the readers to make their own decision after. Depending on your goals and what you want to achieve in the future, you should ask yourself is college really worth the trouble.

The reason I chose this particular area of research is that peanut butter is an extremely popular food choice worldwide as it is affordable and nutritious; and I also love to eat it. However, the number of brands and the choices within the brand range make it complicated for the consumer and myself to choose the most nutritious option. Prior to this research I did not understand the nutritional content of the food I ate.

One of the major advantages of an online degree program is the flexibility it provides to someone working a demanding job, living geographically removed from a college campus, or that simply finds it most convenient for a host of other reasons. These challenges of the modern workforce have in fact been the big driver behind the exponential rise in online degree programs over the past decade. Furthermore, the flexibility provided by an online degree program enables tailoring a program matched to personal learning style and pace.
Some students within society need to have online learning to complete college degrees due to their lifestyles. While it is good to have online learning as an option if one chooses, it should not be the only option available to some students. Some may argue that online education is not creating discrimination within the educational environment. Furthermore, some may suggest that online learning is benefiting our students in society. There has been a breakthrough in time and geographical limitations of education via online courses (Ho, 2009).
Many people think online education can be more expensive than a traditional school setting. Previous generations did not have the option for online learning experience, so why should we start now? An interesting point about online education is that LeBaron (2010) states, “The largest school in the U.S. is the University of Phoenix Online, with a whopping 380,232 students. That’s over 5x more than the largest public school, Arizona State University, which has 68,064 students” (para. 7). Despite the cost effectiveness, distance education is becoming the educational model of the future.
