1. Angela, and Bayardo lived in a male-dominated society, the community is very much one characterized by a gender divide. In Angela Vicario's family, for example, boys are "brought up to be men" and girls are "reared to get married." In this society, honor is the most important factor in any decision that someone makes. in the novel Chronicle of a Death Foretold ,Bayardo returned Angela to her mother after he learned that she was not a virgin because that was the honorable thing to do. Bayardo is publicly embarrassed and loses his honor. This is why the town feels that he is the victim.Violence plays itself out as a daily lived reality. Honor is considered to be an excuse for violence, women are seen as underdogs ,where men are seen as the men of the house .

Women in the Chronicle of a Death Foretold are categorized on a pedestal of perfection and expectations. Any slight glitch in their behavior can be fatal to their position in society, yet not all women were as powerless as some. Marquez uses women to exemplify the faults in a Latin male-dominated society. Through this, we are able to see the great differences and gaps between genders, and the weakness in this society. Despite the traditional "house wife" role which women were expected to be, some still broke the norm and added to the conflicts and strong themes of the novella. women are much more superstitious throughout the book than men, they’re are respected as wives only. yet they actually have a lot of power because they also enable Nasar to be murdered, and have power over the men. moreover,throughout the nove...

Why was the death of Santiago Nasar foretold ….. predict (the future or a future event)

The novel looks like a mystery. The reader, immediately learn that Santiago Nasar is going to die for his misconduct , to attract readers to continue reading to find out how and why this Santiago Nasar death was foretold . The first chapter narrates the morning of the assassination by the twin brothers, Pedro and Pablo Vicario, yet versions of the morning are retold from various different beliefs throughout the rest of the book. The reader is shown over and over again, of Santiago Nasar's murder, but the overarching question of Santiago Nasar's guilty is never exposed.
