Throughout the course of history there will is always something that the human body needs and desires, and that is more. In any person, whether it be apparent to other people around them or hidden deep within them, there will always be a feeling of desire and restless to have more, it could be more resources or more land or more happiness. Well this is not always a bad natural instinct, because it leads for people to have motivation and that leads to great feats and achievements being done. In the 15th century in Europe this turned out to be very beneficial, when the Italian explorer, Christopher Columbus had a dream of exploring new lands and discovering new trade routes. With a calculation error he was in store for something very unexpected, instead of finding what he intended to find, he found South America and the Caribbean. This was due to the belief that the Earth was a lot smaller than it actually was. One year later, an Italian explorer named Amerigo Vespucci traveled back to this land, to discover that it was not a part Asia at all, so he traveled back to Europe and made the claim that this was a “New World”. What this lead to was new trade routes and new resources that had previously been unseen in the European world. This connect united Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. The Age of Exploration lead to so many new and beneficial things, such as new plants, animals, different ideas being spread through both cultures, and many new beneficial advancements in travel. From this large discovery, the maps that were previously available were found to be not as accurate as they once thought, with the discovery of the Americas, so the maps became more accurate. Because they could properly map the world, that lead to long distance trading becoming easier and more common. With many people being encouraged to travel and explore the new world, the ships they used to travel became much better as well, on Christopher columbus's first voyage he sailed there on a ship called the Santa Maria which was just a small 85 foot long ship. Later a Chinese Muslim named, Zheng He, conducted series of expeditions called the seven voyages, on these voyages he was, “Commanding 62 ships and 27,800 men” ("Zheng He." Britannica Academic) .They sailed on very advanced ships called Treasure Ships, they were 400 feet long compared to Christopher Columbus’s 85 foot long Santa Maria.
