Christianity and Judaism

What similarities link Christianity to Judaism? This topic is often debated as Christians see them selves as a complete Judaism but Jew see Christians as mistaken. The main issue between the two religions is the existence of Christ. Christians believe that Christ came and walked the earth and died and was risen and will come again whereas Jews believe that the savior has not yet arrived and that the messiah will be coming in the future. Beyond this, there are few differences between the two religions.

The first thing I will cover is the origin of Christianity. Christianity was created in Palestine in around 30 BC. Christianity was started when Jesus of Nazareth began walking the earth teaching the people. He was believed to be the son of God and had twelve disciples that followed him wherever he went. His teachings were from the bible and the religious leaders of the time thought him to be a heretic. He often spoke of how the Pharisees were misconstruing their power and were teaching fallacies among the people. Jesus was then caught by Romans after being caught preforming a miracle or "working" on the Sabbath. He was sentenced to death by crucifixion and was killed and buried soon after. Three days passed before he rose up and out of his grave and went back to his disciples. He then gave the disciples their mission and ascended into heaven. Christians believe that through his death and resurrection Jesus defeated death and therefore was the ultimate sacrifice to forgive all sins past, present, and future.

The history of Judaism is a bit longer. Judaism was founded in around 1300 BC by Abraham. Abraham was the son of an idol merchant. As a child he questioned his fathers religion and came to believe that the whole world ...

...ce for moral disciplines. The final disagreement is the interpretation of God. Christians perceive God as a trinity of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. But Jew perceive God as a singular divine being with no need for counterparts.

In conclusion, Christianity and Judaism are two very similar but in many ways different religions. The two share a belief in the old testament and also share many important laws. Christians and Jews come to disagreements over the interpretation of God and the perception of Jesus and they also fight over the new testament. I believe that both religions have valuable teachings and that they learn from each other in many ways, I also believe that the two religions share such close roots that it is impossible to prevent an overlap in beliefs at some point. And finally, I think that Christianity and Judaism are more similar than people think.
