Great post Hannah! Christianity and Judism are closely related in all sorts of ways like you said. When you said "both believe in Jesus, they have thier discrepancies where one much choose whether to be Christian or a Jew" it blows my mind how christanity came from judism and now both religions are total opposites. Even thought both scriptures contain the same stories and teachings about Jesus and the law of the land the religion are so far apart from one another. Today each religion has different beliefs, traditions, and holidays. I wonder why Christianity ended up being so different from Judism.
There are many similarities and differences between Judaism and Buddhism. While Judaism is more popular Buddhism they both have many followers throughout the world.
While Christianity places emphasis on focusing on the New Covenant as told through Jesus Christ, Judaism places its emphasis on right conduct that is recorded in the Torah and Talmud. Christians believe in individual salvation from sin through repentance and receiving Jesus Christ as their God and Savior through faith. Jews believe in individual and collective participation with God through tradition, rituals, prayers and ethical actions. Christianity believes in a triune God, one person of whom became human, whereas Judaism emphasizes the oneness of God and rejects the Christian concept of God in human form. Judaism and Christianity share the belief that there is One, True God, who is the only one worthy to be worshipped. Both Judaism and Christianity believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, for Jews the God of the Tanaka and for Christians the God of the Old Testament, the creator of the universe. First of all, the Jewish people have a strong belief in community. On page ten it is quoted, "people before we had a religion." To the Jews this is a very important part of their religion. By following the traditions of their ancestors (Moses, Isaac, Jacob) they believe that they will fulfill their deeds as a Jew. One specific way in which they can fulfill the Jewish tradition is by obeying the Torah. The Torah is the Law or the first five books written by Moses. It is the story of Judaism and that is where most of the history of Judaism comes from. As for the Christians they believe in what they call and "idea-the incarnation of God in Jesus, the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus as a way of redeeming man from sins." As a Christian I know that our religion comes from roots of Judaism. The Jews just haven't come to understand that Jesus is the Messiah.

One thing common between these two religions is that they both are monotheistic and believe that there is only one god. Something that is different is that the Judaism started around 1900 BC unlike Islam which started in the 7th century. Both religions are also disparate when it comes to devotion. Simply put, an ultimate reality is a pervading power, or more colloquially, a God. Ancient traditions express differently if there is a pervading power, what their will is, how they manifest in our world, and how the power speaks to us in our lives. Two of the most ancient traditions, Hinduism and Judaism, conceptualize and express an ‘ultimate reality’ in their own unique ways, and despite their differences express various core similarities. Monotheism is a core feature of the Hindu and Judeo faith in how they conceptualize ‘ultimate reality’.
